The Opportunity
The Insider Threat Analyst is responsible for the analysis of anomalous user activities and indicators of potential insider threats. This position will be part of the Investigations and Corporate Fraud (ICF) Team within Risk & Legal Services (RALS), responsible for utilizing a wide variety of security tools across multiple environments. You will support the ICF Team Manager and Sr. Investigators by performing analysis, investigation, and monitoring of user and endpoint based insider threats. These tasks include but are not limited to: creating and maintaining investigation and incident tracking information; planning, coordinating, and supporting investigations; assisting with investigative reports and summaries; investigation analysis tasks including preservation and examination of all available information, and supporting evidence or artifacts collection related to incident or event.
Day in the Life

Track and document investigations from initial opening of a case through final resolution including documenting requests and activities in a case management system

Effectively and professionally secure handling and collection of digital evidence

Analyze data from detection tools, including our internal monitoring systems and others, as needed to support investigations

Identify and enhance processes where automation has the potential to improve efficiency

Create, prepare, and defend technical escalation reports for presenting findings to leadership, corporate investigations, and legal partners

Monitor alerts and reports initiated by employee actions via internal activity monitoring platforms

Maintain working relationships with external risk/fraud management departments to share resources and information as needed to handle insider and external threats

Conduct analysis of complex cross-channel insider threat events or suspicious activity and deliver findings and recommendations to management through written reports

Create and retain case management records for all investigations, suspicious activity, incidents and events

Assist in creating summary communications resulting from incidents or investigations to internal leadership and external clients

Monitor outgoing emails, USB extraction activity, and other files identified as containing possible sensitive information via Velera’s data loss prevention platform

On a routine basis, assist in monitoring the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) Reports to identify possible matches of financial institution accounts/transactions against the U.S. Treasury Specifically Designated National (SDN) List, and report any possible matches to the financial institution

Participate in special project teams supporting general business initiatives outside of the primary investigative analysis function

Recognize opportunities for addressing fraud issues, risks and exposures; report findings to RALS leadership

Exercise exceptional communication skills to optimize each contact with internal customers and external partners

Perform all other duties as assigned
Qualifications

High School Diploma. GED or equivalent certification,

Bachelor’s degree preferred. Industry standard certifications preferred (CFE or CAMS are examples).

Three or more years’ experience in insider threat, fraud, risk management, cyber-security, or intelligence field required.

At least two years of experience leading or conducting non-technical and technical investigations utilizing various threat tools are preferred.
