As an Infrastructure Engineering Manager I, you will lead a team responsible for the day-to-day operations, maintenance, and optimization of compute, storage, backup, and virtualization infrastructure. You will ensure the systems are reliable, secure, and aligned with organizational goals while fostering team development, executing infrastructure roadmaps, and driving operational excellence.

Outcomes and Activities:

  • This position will work from home; occasional planned travel to an assigned Southfield, Michigan office location may be requiredHowever, this position is permitted to work at a Southfield, Michigan office location if requested by the team member.
  • Provide team members with clear work objectives and foster a high-performing team through goal setting, regular feedback, and career development opportunities.
  • Analyze infrastructure performance trends, identify areas for improvement, and implement solutions for scalability and optimization.
  • Manages OEM & Value-Added Partner relationships 
  • Supports the management of contract negotiations, licensing, subscription, and maintenance agreements for all platforms and solutions under the Systems Engineering Domain. Maintains awareness of contract timelines and ensures timely coordination with relevant stakeholders for renewals or updates.
  • Effectively communicates issues / updates regarding the compute, storage, back-up and virtualization infrastructure. 
  • Participates in development, implementation, and maintenance of strategic short- and long-range planning for compute, storage, back-up and virtualization infrastructure 
  • Helps to define best practices for use by the team
  • Provide training, mentoring and coaching for new and existing employees  
  • Develop and maintain documentation for processes and procedures 
  • Owns Infrastructure performance monitoring and tuning tools  
  • Develops solutions using High availability and disaster recovery strategies  
  • Lead problem resolution, root cause analysis, and post-incident reviews to implement preventative measures and improve system resilience.
  • Manages data backup and recovery across the organization.  
  • Manages appropriate project prioritization of multiple projects  
  • Determine needed resources and establish overall project plans and outlines.  
  • Define, document, and present business and system processes & requirements.
  • Act as the first point of escalation for Systems Engineering OnCall related activities

Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in CIS, CS, or related or equivalent work experience.
  • 5 years of relevant senior level experience in systems engineering with technologies such as VMware, Cisco/Dell Server hardware, SAN and NAS platforms and fabrics, Tape/Disk/Replication backup platforms, and firm understanding of enterprise OS environments including Windows and Linux.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience leading engineering teams, including some experience with conflict resolution, setting and enforcing performance expectations, mentoring and career guidance
  • Working experience in technical leadership, capable of providing mentorship, cross-functional project execution, collaborating on and executing technical vision and strategy
  • Experience with managing, coaching and providing guidance to developers and engineers.
  • Experiencing managing systems across multiple data centers
  • Expected to work hours coinciding with team core hours (Eastern Time Zone)
  • Experience in financial services is a plus 

Preferred:

  • Some experience working with Agile and DevOps practices.
  • Some experience working with Automation tools such as Aria, Ansible Automation Platform, Terraform, and GIT.
  • Some experience with containers/Kubernetes, container orchestration, security, and administration.

Target Compensation: A competitive base salary range from $103,860 - $152,328This position is eligible for an annual variable bonus of cash and equity, between 10-20%. 

Candidates who reside in the following major metropolitan areas may be eligible for a premium on top of the posted range based on their specific zone: San Francisco, Seattle, Boston, New York City, Los Angeles and San Diego.
