As an Infrastructure Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the Infrastructure Platforms team, you utilize strong knowledge of software, applications, and technical processes within the infrastructure engineering discipline. Apply your technical knowledge and problem-solving methodologies across multiple applications of moderate scope.
Job responsibilities
- Participate actively in hands-on tasks related to database migration and administration, including writing and optimizing queries, as well as managing complex procedures.
- Execute database migrations with minimal downtime for large and complex databases, addressing both homogeneous and heterogeneous environments.
- Provide database consulting services to the internal customer base across all business lines within the firm.
- Foster strong relationships and act as a trusted advisor to application development teams, empowering them to expedite cross-cloud modernization efforts and achieve successful outcomes.
- Collaborate closely with database product engineers and database support to provide an integrated service and seamless experience for internal application developers.
- Demonstrate initiative to progress across multiple simultaneous assignments, ranging from small to large scale.
- Consider upstream/downstream data and systems or technical implications.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
- Minimum 3 years of experience, or equivalent expertise, in troubleshooting, resolving, and supporting Oracle databases, as well as providing support for AWS RDS (Amazon Relational Database Service)
- Strong knowledge of one or more infrastructure disciplines such as hardware, networking terminology, oracle cloud, databases, storage engineering, deployment practices, integration, automation, scaling, resilience, and performance assessments
- Strong knowledge in AWS RDS and Oracle database architecture and administration
- Expertise on at least one of the following database technology - AWS RDS, AWS Aurora Postgres, Oracle Exadata, Postgres, Cassandra, Databricks, Snowflake
- Knowledge of implementation of database backup and recovery procedures using Oracle RMAN, ZDLRA appliances
- Experience in performing database tuning and optimize queries and stored procedures in AWS and RDS databases
- Understanding in Data migration, data streaming tooling (e.g. Oracle Goldengate or Pentaho), database security, and encryption practices
- Basic experience with Unix systems and shell scripting
- Passion in developing infrastructure engineering knowledge of additional domains, data fluency, and automation knowledge
- Experience with multiple cloud technologies with the ability to operate in and migrate across public and private clouds
