ISS STOXX is seeking an experienced Index Engineering Lead in Mumbai, India 

Overview:

STOXX is the index-focused business vertical within ISS STOXX that operates the DAX and STOXX index families. It is a leading innovator in optimised portfolios for thematic and sustainable investing. In your new role as Associate Vice President of Engineering, you will be a key part of the STOXX index engineering team, responsible for developing the cutting-edge application platform that supports index development, production and operational process. The platform is key to enabling STOXX to be more flexible, respond to clients faster, and reduce time-to-market for new indices.

As a key component of a business with an ambitious growth strategy, your role is highly technical in an increasingly agile-focused company. In this role, you should be able to guide the team with minimal supervision, possess excellent problem-solving skills, and ensure the development of high-quality software aligned with user needs and business goals.

As the Technical Lead, you will lead and contribute to the design, development, and optimization of scalable, high-performance systems on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), leveraging Python, modern data engineering practices, and innovative problem-solving skills. This platform will drive our next-generation indexing systems, enabling advanced resilience, scalability, enhanced performance, automation, and quicker time to market.

In this role, you will balance mentoring responsibilities with hands-on technical contributions, guiding a team of engineers while actively participating in the design, development, and implementation of solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, a passion for problem-solving, and proven leadership abilities.

Responsibilities:

Delivery Management:

  • Oversee the full software development lifecycle, ensuring the delivery of quality solutions on time.
  • Act as a liaison between technical teams and stakeholders, effectively communicating status, risks, and addressing concerns.
  • Utilize Agile and conventional project delivery methodologies, leading ceremonies as required.

Technical Oversight:

  • Ensure the team is proficient in relevant technologies such as Python, SQL, GCP cloud.
  • Work with senior engineers to architect and design scalable, maintainable software solutions.
  • Implement and enforce coding standards, code reviews, and testing procedures to ensure high-quality software solutions.

Quality Assurance:

  • Drive continuous improvement in development processes and practices.
  • Ensure high-quality outcomes through validation and verification testing of functional and non-functional requirements.

Support and Improvement:

  • Ensure smooth operation of applications supporting index services in a regulated 24x7 environment.
  • Serve as a technical point of contact, providing support and assistance in troubleshooting issues in index applications, including occasional out-of-hours support.
  • Continuously improve operations by proactively predicting and addressing potential issues.

Impact:

  • Provide technology to support the STOXX index business, facilitating the development of new index products and services in a cost-efficient and timely manner.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Proven track record (3+ years) of successful software development leadership within the financial services industry.
  • Significant experience (7+ years) in software development methodologies and Agile-based delivery.
  • Strong technical background with expertise in Python, SQL, and Public Cloud.
  • Knowledge of .Net/C# and MS-SQL applications is an advantage.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Understanding of quality assurance best practices within the software development process.
  • Keen interest in technology trends and their implications for business.
