About The Job
We are looking for a curious and experienced accountant to join the AUL Finance Team responsible for the IFRS17 reporting for MS Amlin Lloyds’ Syndicate 2001, managing agency (MA AUL), related capital provider (MS ACM) and all other associated entities under the AUL reporting structure.
What You’ll Spend Your Time Doing
While there is rarely a typical day, here’s a snapshot of some of the key parts of the job:
- Maintain the integrity of the IFRS17 financial close, including:
- Reconciliations and controls to ensure alignment between the IFRS17 and UK GAAP ledgers
- Ensuring accuracy and understanding of the quarterly IFRS17 reserving postings
- Ensure translation into functional and presentational currencies are performed accurately
- Running and owning various tasks in the IFRS17 runbook
- Working closely with the UK GAAP team to understand the numbers/process and proactively manage dependencies on the IFRS17 close
- Prepare relevant disclosure notes as part of the Head Office quarterly submission
- Provide support where required to the consolidation process of the AUL Group IFRS17 Financials on a quarterly and annual basis to Head Office
- Oversight and development of key processes for quarterly reporting
- Operating effective processes and controls, adhering with JSOX requirements
- Adherence to Head Office reporting timetables
- Provide support if required to the UK GAAP reporting team
- Provide analysis and insight into the IFRS17 outputs
- Engage and support key stakeholders in specific projects/initiatives
- Developing and maintaining close relationships with key stakeholders including UK GAAP Finance team, Actuarial, Underwriting Performance, Internal and External Auditors.
The key outputs that make this a pivotal role are:
- Quality and timely outputs on a quarterly and annual basis;
- Insight and understanding of information you are responsible for preparing, demonstrated in presentation and review;
- Ensure that all processes and controls where you are responsible are completed on a timely basis, reviewed and signed-off;
- Driving and delivering required changes as a result of developments in relevant accounting standards, new project initiatives etc.

What you’ll need:
For this particular role there are some important qualifications and experience we need you to have. These include:
- Qualified Accountant
- IFRS experience
- IFRS17 experience preferred. However this is not crucial to the role and training will be provided
- Preparing and reviewing monthly controls
- Good written and oral communication.
- Good analytical skills
- Good organisational skills
- Lloyd's experience (preferred but not crucial)
