The Role

Plan, direct and coordinate human resource management activities to maximize the strategic use of human resources and maintain functions such as recruitment, employee relations and personnel policies.

 

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, interview, select and administer background check on applicants
  • Provide current and prospective employees with information about policies, job duties, working conditions, wages, opportunities for promotion and employee benefits
  • Administer conflict resolution and administer disciplinary procedures
  • Advise employees on organizational policy matters such as employee benefits, leave options and harassment
  • Participate in new employee orientation to explain and foster positive attitude on organizational objectives and policies
  • Serve as a link between management and employees by handling questions, interpreting and administering contracts and helping resolve work-related issues
  • Maintain records and compile reports concerning personnel-related data such as hires, terminations, FMLA administration, Progressive Disciplinary Warnings and Prevailing Wage report
  • Participate in conducting investigations and maintaining records
  • Administer special projects in areas such as employee awards including Employee of the Month
  • Support onboarding of new hires
  • Consults with regional support offices when necessary to ensure proper procedures are followed
  • Complete other projects and duties as assigned

Requirements 

  • At least 4 years of prior Human Resources experience, preferably to have included responsibility for Talent Acquisition and Employee Relations.  A four-year degree in business administration, management, personnel management, accounting, or a related field from a recognized college or university preferred. 
  • Ability to read and interpret instructions, memos and other correspondence. Ability to write correspondence in a clear and professional way. Other abilities as needed by the location.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in units of measure, including but not limited to, whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written or oral instructions. Ability to effectively respond to employee problems or complaints.

The anticipated base salary for this position is $65,000.00 to 85,000.00 annually. The actual base pay offered is determined by a number of variables, including, as appropriate, the applicant's qualifications for the position, years of relevant experience, distinctive skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location of residence and/or place of employment. Base pay is one component of Metropolis’s total compensation package, which may also include access to or eligibility for healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a lucrative stock option plan, bonus plans and more.
