The Human Resource Generalist will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the HR department, including recruiting, interviewing, benefits administration, employee relations, and enforcing company policies and practices. This role is essential in fostering a positive and compliant work environment.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Manage the staffing process, including recruiting, interviewing, hiring and onboarding
- Conduct background checks and employee eligibility verification
- Generate official internal documents such as offer letters, employment verification, termination letters, and severance agreements
- Maintain digital employee records, including documents, benefits and attendance records
- Update and maintain job descriptions, conduct benchmark compensation studies, and manage the employee manual with regular annual updates to ensure accuracy, compliance, and alignment with company policies
- Assist employees with benefits-related inquiries and provide guidance on enrollment processes, including new hire and open enrollment periods
- Coordinate with upper management to design and implement benefits offerings that align with the company’s budgets, enhance employee satisfaction, and provide maximum value to employees
- Investigate employee issues and conflicts and work to resolve them effectively
- Ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations
- Use performance management tools to provide guidance, feedback, and performance evaluations
- Ensure consistent application of all company HR policies and practices across the organization
- Maintain and update company organization charts and employee directory
- Partner with management to ensure strategic HR goals are aligned with business initiatives
- Maintain and optimize HR systems and processes for efficiency
- Conduct exit interviews for departing employees and provide insight for retention improvements
- Design and implement employee retention strategies to reduce turnover
- Prepare various HR correspondence, documentation, and communications in a timely manner
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or a related field, preferred.
- At least three years of human resource experience, preferably in a generalist role or within a similar industry, with a proven track record of handling a wide range of HR functions.
- Experience supporting employees in a start-up environment, preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS (ADPWorforce Now) and talent management systems (JazzHR).
- Must be willing to commute to our Newark, NJ offices 3x/week.
