Job Responsibilities:
What you can expect:
- Implements and maintains all Health & Safety/Environmental policies and procedures as per the legal and other internal requirements.
- Champions the H&S, Environmental, Ergonomics Assessment and related Inspections and Audits and resulting Action Plans.
- Make studies and analyses of industrial accident causes and hazards to health for use by company personnel.
- Inspect or tour organization facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, and recommends corrective or preventative measures where indicated.
- Arranges H&S/Ergonomics Meetings, notifies members, participates as a Joint Health & Safety member, as well as sets up/records meeting minutes/initiates monthly workplace inspections.
- Sets up/ensures completion of Workplace Inspections for all departments.
- Assist in monitoring contracts for employee PPE including uniforms, safety glasses, earplugs etc.
- Arranges/delivers in house Safety/Environment/Ergonomic training.
- Demonstrates Continuous Improvement through investigating/recommending Best Practices for all areas of Ergonomics/Safety/Environment in order to put in place once established system decided upon.
- Sets example, enforces, and takes a proactive approach to enforce safe working conditions for all employees.
- Maintains/updates any binders/databases for Health/Safety/Environment/Ergonomics including preparation and submission of reports/Action Plans as per Audit/Inspection requirements.
- Maintains and updates health/safety/environment training matrix, records requirements/dates of courses and books/notifies employees accordingly.
- Cross-functional training of tasks in Human Resources Department.
What you'll bring:
- Minimum 5 years progressive health & safety experience
- Thorough knowledge of application of the H&S laws and regulations
- Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills coupled with expert Excel, Word, Database capabilities
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills; customer focused.
- Fluent in English both written and verbal
- Effective time management, organizational and problem solving skills
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills, including the ability to effectively transfer knowledge to a diverse group of learners
- Must be able to work independently, source and vet vendors
- Must be able to coach, facilitate and influence a cultural and behavioral change in the workplace
- Demonstrated capacity to work in a team, provide situational leadership
- Willingness to travel from time to time
