Summary
The Philadelphia Inquirer has committed to creating a culture in which diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism are at the core of everything we do. As the People and Culture Coordinator you will support the VP of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and the SVP of People and Culture (P&C) on key talent and DEI initiatives. You will help to organize programs, trainings, and events for The Inquirer staff and external stakeholders that further the organization's people and community commitments.
What You'll Do
- Assist in the execution and delivery of diversity, equity, inclusion, and P&C programs and initiatives.
- Help to enhance DEI education efforts through the coordination of workshops and trainings and the development of related tools and resources.
- Provide administrative and tactical support for DEI and P&C initiatives and programs through scheduling, communications, and other support as needed.
- Serve as a point of contact for P&C and DEI inquiries and needs.
- Assist with the planning, setup, and breakdown of meetings, events, and conferences.
- Assist with cultivating relationships with key external DEI focused organizations, vendors, and community partners.
- Help to manage, provide guidance, and administrative support to The Inquirer's Employee Resource Groups. Help to ensure that they are functioning to advance the company's DEI strategy.
- Conduct research and stay current on DEI best practices for use and/or implementation at The Inquirer.
- Compile and submit information for external DEI and P&C awards, benchmarking, and other relevant external surveys.
- Assist with analytics, tracking metrics, and generating diversity reporting to show trends and impact across diversity programs and initiatives.
- Collaborate with key partners and stakeholders including but not limited to the Newsroom, Training & Development, Talent Acquisition, Communications, Product, etc.
- Identify opportunities to improve or streamline processes in support of the team.
Who We're Looking For
- Experience in diversity, equity, inclusion, human resources, training and development, or other applicable fields.
- Previous experience coordinating events, trainings, or other company programming a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact and influence at all levels.
- Highly organized, responsive and attentive to detail.
- Professional demeanor, maturity, good judgment and discretion in working with confidential information.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently on multiple tasks and prioritize competing deadlines.
- Basic familiarity or experience working with numbers and statistical data.
