The HR Manager plays a key role in shaping and executing HR strategies to support business growth across Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, and the Philippines. This role focuses on organizational development, HR advisory, talent management, and employee relations, while overseeing HR operations such as office operations, compliance, policies, and payroll coordination.
As the only HR function based in Malaysia, the HR Manager collaborates closely with Management Team, Country Managers, Division Heads, and Department Heads to align HR strategies with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic HR Advisory & Organizational Development
- Act as a trusted HR advisor to management, providing guidance on people-related decisions.
- Drive organizational development initiatives, including workforce planning, succession planning, and leadership development.
- Lead change management strategies to support company restructuring, new business models, and market expansion.
- Analyze workforce trends and provide data-driven HR insights to enhance decision-making.
- Coach and guide managers on performance management, conflict resolution, and employee engagement.
2. Talent Management & Workforce Planning
- Develop and implement regional recruitment strategies, ensuring alignment with business goals.
- Work with hiring managers to plan workforce needs, identifying skill gaps and talent pipelines.
- Strengthen employer branding and talent attraction efforts across MY, ID, TH, and PH.
- Oversee onboarding programs, ensuring new hires integrate smoothly into the organization.
3. Performance Management & Employee Development
- Lead the performance appraisal process, ensuring a structured and transparent review system.
- Provide HR guidance to managers on coaching, goal setting, and performance improvement.
- Identify learning and development needs, sourcing strategic training opportunities for employees.
- Design and support career progression frameworks to enhance retention and employee growth for high potential employees.
4. Employee Relations & Compliance
- Act as a key person for managers and employees, providing advisory support on employee relations and HR policies.
- Proactively address employee grievances and conflict resolution, ensuring fair and transparent resolutions.
- Ensure compliance with employment laws and labor regulations across MY, ID, TH, and PH.
- Continuously review and refine HR policies, employee handbooks, and employment contracts to align with best practices.
- Work with leadership to develop workforce restructuring plans, minimizing business and employee impact.
- Work with external legal consultants on country-specific HR matters when needed.
5. Overseeing HR Operations & Payroll
- Supervise HR administrative tasks such as employment contracts, visas, and benefits administration.
- Oversee monthly payroll processing and payroll reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Monitor compensation and benefits structures, supporting salary reviews and market benchmarking.
- Improve HR processes and operational efficiency, driving automation and digital solutions where possible.
Key Requirements
1. Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or any related field.
- Minimum 7 - 10 years of HR experience, with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
- Proven experience in HR business partnering, organizational development, and strategic HR advisory.
- Regional HR exposure is highly preferred. i.e. Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, and Philippines
- Strong knowledge of employment laws in Malaysia is a must, familiarity with ASEAN countries' employment laws will be an added advantage.
- Strong proficiency in both spoken & written English.
