Position Overview:
The HR Generalist will be located in our New York office and support US and Canada offices. The role will work closely with the HR team based in North America and will be part of the global HR team. This role will report to the HR Manager located in Montreal. The HR Generalist is responsible for acting as an advisor to staff, will be an advocate for employees and will help execute global projects.
- Manage people matters in regions and ensure all HR operations align with legal and global company requirements in various US states and Canadian provinces.
- Prepare the monthly payroll process for all regions, working closely with the HR Manager and the global payroll team.
- Lead on payroll related activities related to pension, RRSP and benefits.
- Collaborate with global HR team members across regions (Payroll, L&D, Benefits, HRIS) to participate in HR projects such as new process and system implementations, policies/procedures and the related automation when applicable.
- Align practices with company’s procedures comply with employment regulations in the supported countries and implement the appropriate ones when required.
- Lead onboarding and off-boarding activities end-to-end,. Conduct exit interviews and arrange the collection of WFH equipment.
- Support the HR Manager in complex employee relations cases.
- Work with the Compliance team on secondments and general support.
- Monitor immigration matters; track the status of current employees and additional responsibilities for PERM visas.
- Monitor the HR AMER inbox, to ensure a timely response to employee issues and concerns in a timely manner.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with a minimum of 5 years’ experience required; preferably in financial services.
- Employment relations experience.
- Analytical reasoning and solution-focused problem solver with the ability to think critically and independently.
- Strong prioritization and time management skills.
- Innovative in approaching situations and responsible to be an advocate for change.
- Capable of synthesizing information concisely and easily.
- Self-motivated and disciplined.
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to effectively interact with all levels within the organization; a good team player.
- Excellent written and verbal skills.
- Works well under pressure; flexible work style.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint.

The minimum base salary for this role is $100,000 if located in New York. This expectation is based on available information at the time of posting. This role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses, which could constitute a significant portion of total compensation. This role may also be eligible for benefits, such as health, dental, and other wellness plans, as well as 401(k) contributions. Successful candidates’ compensation and benefits will be determined in consideration of various factors
