Wells Fargo is seeking a strategic and results-oriented senior technology executive as Head of Technology for India & Philippines. This leader will have dual reporting responsibilities to both the Global Head of Technology and the Country Head of India & the Philippines. This leader will also work in partnership with the Head of Technology Business Management in developing the cross-Technology reporting, financials and vendor management needs.
This leader will,
- Actively partner with senior technology executives to support the development of multiyear technology strategy, roadmaps for the teams in India & the Philippines region and responsible for executing global technology strategies for the lines of business, functions and company while ensuring the delivery of innovative, high-quality technology solutions that meet both business and customer needs in the region.
- Provide functional leadership to global teams on tech shared services, drive technology transformation in developer experience, collaboration, tooling, reuse, copilot/git adoption, building agile teams, growing AI capabilities.
- From regional leadership perspective, act as the single accountable senior leader to lead ~15,000 members technology team based in India and the Philippines spread across various global technology functions including consumer technology, commercial & investment banking technology, wealth & investment management technology, infrastructure, cybersecurity, enterprise functions, and digital technology transformation.
- In partnership with the Head of Enterprise Gen AI technology build up AI/Gen AI capabilities in country, drive simplification, automation, efficiency, build-up of shared services, lead technology cross functional initiatives partnering with other regional leaders.
- Building the India tech workforce of the future by embedding continuous learning and improvement culture around AI, critical thinking, product mindset, collaboration, speed, quality and accountability.
This leader will sit on the Technology Leadership team, the Technology Business Management Leadership team and the India & Philippines regional leadership team to drive the regional priorities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Transformational Leadership & Strategic Execution:
- Lead the technology teams in India and the Philippines, aligning regional technology initiatives with global strategy and goals.
- Collaborate closely with senior technology executives and I&P leadership to drive the execution of technology initiatives that support Wells Fargo’s business and customer needs across these regions.
- Drive the development and implementation of technology solutions to meet regional market demands while ensuring they align with global standards and practices.
- Demonstrate business partner value by understanding the business, advocating technology solutions to advance business initiatives, incorporating internal / external customer views, and managing key financial indicators to the benefit of Well Fargo’s shareholders.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with functional domains across Wells Fargo Technology (e.g. Technology Infrastructure, Chief Operating Office, Chief Technology Office, Technology Controls, Information & Cyber Security) as well as critical enterprise partners (e.g. Data Management & Insights, Chief Operating Office Groups, Corporate Risk, Finance, HR, Audit, Communications etc.).
- Serve as the key technology partner to I&P leadership, ensuring that regional goals and challenges are addressed through tailored technology solutions.
- Operational Excellence:
- Oversee the successful delivery of technology services and projects across both India and the Philippines, including software development, infrastructure management, cloud solutions, cybersecurity, and data analytics.
- Ensure consistent, high-quality technology operations while optimizing efficiency, reducing costs, and maintaining service reliability across the region.
- Provide senior technology perspective on industry trends, competitive landscape and market/regulatory changes leveraging industry contacts, vendors, and strategic technology partner relationships.
- Partner with both regional and global stakeholders to ensure that technology operations are aligned, cohesive, and effective across all functional areas.
- Dual Reporting & Collaboration:
- Actively engage with the Global Head of Technology, Head of Technology Business Management and I&P leaders to ensure that regional technology needs are addressed while adhering to global standards and strategy.
- Regularly report on the status, progress, and outcomes of technology initiatives, highlighting key achievements, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
- Foster open communication and collaboration between I&P technology teams and US-based leadership, ensuring alignment in technology priorities and execution.
- Risk & Compliance Management:
- Ensure that all technology operations in India and the Philippines comply with regional regulatory requirements as well as Wells Fargo’s global policies, standards, including data privacy laws, cybersecurity regulations, and other industry-specific regulations.
- Lead risk management initiatives to identify, assess, and mitigate technology-related risks, ensuring robust security practices and business continuity.
- Work closely with global risk management teams to ensure technology compliance with Wells Fargo’s internal policies and regulatory requirements.
- Team Development & Culture:
- Build, lead, and mentor high-performing, diverse technology teams across India and the Philippines, fostering a culture of innovation, quality, speed, collaboration, and accountability.
- Building the tech workforce of the future by embedding continuous learning and improvement culture.
- Ensure that the teams are well-equipped to execute both regional and global technology strategies, providing ongoing coaching, feedback, and professional development opportunities.
- Promote inclusion, listening and development within technology teams to create an inclusive and engaging work environment.
Required Qualifications:
- 15+ years of Technology Delivery, Product Management, Software Engineering, Platform Development, Strategy and Planning experience or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.
- 8+ years of management experience, including managing scale and diversity of functions
- Senior leadership experience with proven track record of managing fast paced technology function in India and/or the Philippines, especially in the context of large-scale, complex financial services organizations.
- Smart engineer, who can inspire a large organization, core critical thinker with proven track record in solving business problems using modern technology.
- Strong knowledge of all areas of technology including AI, architecture, infrastructure, data, cybersecurity, developer experience, tooling, organization change management, and risk/regulatory.
- Experienced in one or more of the core business domains consumer banking, commercial banking, corporate & investment banking, wealth management and having directly managed senior global leaders.
- Experience in matrixed organization with strong relationship and influencing skills in managing senior global business stakeholders and driving cross functional collaboration
- In-depth understanding of the regulatory landscape in India, the Philippines, and globally.
- Must have led global transformation programs that align with the short- and long-term objectives developed in tandem with the global/regional senior leaders.
Skills:
- Strong application support/development/ delivery experience across modern applications stacks and infrastructure
- Expertise in emerging technologies, such as cloud computing, AI/ML, big data, and cybersecurity.
- Deep experience in risk management, data privacy, and regulatory compliance.
- Strong experience in driving technology strategies, operations, and digital transformation in alignment with both global and regional business goals.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to navigate complex reporting relationships and foster collaboration across global and regional teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead technology teams toward successful execution under a dual-reporting structure.
- Proven ability to influence and collaborate with senior leaders across regions and functions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with agile development methodologies and driving technology change in a fast-paced, global environment.
- Expertise in financial services technologies, particularly in banking, payments, and wealth management.
