Job Title: Head - Strategy & Portfolio Planning
Location: India
About the role:
The Head of Strategy will be responsible for driving the long-term strategic agenda, and growth initiatives for the India business. This role will work closely with CLT, commercial teams, and global/regional counterparts to develop and implement strategic plans that drive business growth and market leadership. Key responsibilities for the role are:

  • Corporate strategy initiatives planning and execution- This is the core part of the role and includes hypergrowth projects, go-to market models creation and evaluation, operating and business model changes proposals and recommendations, geographic expansion/ exit, , Lead annual business planning (LRF, MRP) and forecasting in collaboration with finance and commercial teams. Serve as PMO for critical corporate strategic projects.
  • Portfolio planning - strategic evaluation of Takeda's global pipeline to uncover growth levers and specific tactics through working with franchises and related cross-functional teams. Deep strategic evaluation of new assets and Takeda's pipeline suitable for country launches. Work with above LOC teams to identify and prioritize new product launches for India.
  • Business Development/ Partnerships - business development through scouting various partnership models and managing the process internally and externally end-to-end including documentation, contract management and deal structuring etc.
  • Cross-functional Leadership & Stakeholder Management - Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as commercial, medical, regulatory, finance, and supply chain teams to ensure seamless execution of strategic initiatives. Present strategic recommendations to the India leadership team and global/regional stakeholders. Act as a thought leader and advisor to senior management.

This role is a subject matter expert of strategy and requires acute commercial awareness. The role is expected to deliver on all aspects of business requiring strategic evaluation and strategy development, and liaises with all functions of the organization for strategy development and assessment of resources and planning. This role is expected to deliver on big mandates like hypergrowth planning, organization wide blueprint creation and implementation and change management.
This role require incumbent to collaborate with corporate functions to develop strategic, mid-to-long-range plans supporting the assessment of market and industry trends, data gathering & analysis and preparation of business plans. Scope and drive projects and initiatives which create growth and capitalize on opportunities, competitive intelligence and market dynamics.
Complexity and Problem Solving
High caliber to solve complex business problems through analytical frameworks, financial modeling and a strong understanding of business environment both internally and externally to be able to not only strengthen but also challenge the analysis if required. Incumbent should be able to structure business development deals with relevant stakeholders' inputs and alignments. This role requires in-depth knowledge of strategic aspects of running a business as well as comes with high level of ambiguity. The incumbent should be highly comfortable in collaborating across leadership levels to deliver on the outcomes
Internal and External Contacts

  • Internal - Country Leadership Team, commercial excellence in business operations function, finance teams, franchises, regulatory, medical, market access, pricing teams primarily. Extensive engagement with I-SEA and many a times with GEM
  • External - Market research vendors, prospective partners, strategy consulting firms, business intelligence community


What you bring to Takeda:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • 10-15 years' work experience in consulting firms, head of strategy roles, corporate strategy and business insights and analytics; Healthcare industry experience a must
  • MBA preferred
  • Finance background added advantage
  • People management experience added advantage
  • Understanding of market research, partnerships, analytical tools/ dashboards, power BI, insight generation tools, strategy frameworks
