Job Description
The Head of Strategy and Operations is accountable for leading the organization in formulating goals and objectives aligned with the DDT strategy to drive prioritized outcomes. This involves driving the leadership team through prioritization of critical issues, collecting and analyzing necessary information for efficient decision-making, and engaging cross-functional teams to drive decision-making and outcomes. The role also includes facilitating the development of strategies and relevant roadmaps, monitoring progress, and leading discussions on strategic matters such as assessing capabilities and organizational gaps. Additionally, this role is responsible for communication planning, orchestrating stakeholder communications, ensuring leadership team effectiveness, and serving as a confidant to the leader. The role requires technical expertise in managing complex initiatives, strong leadership skills to align the organization with the vision and strategy, autonomy in decision-making, and a focus on driving innovation.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
Leader Effectiveness

  • Lead organization in formulating goal and objectives aligned to the DDT strategy to drive prioritized outcomes


  • Drive leadership team thru prioritization of critical issues, and collect, analyze, and interpret required information, to facilitate efficient decision making.


  • Engage leaders and next level leaders cross functionally in focus teams to drive decision making and outcomes


  • Lead and facilitate Leadership Team meetings, responsible for engaging across the team to effective decision-making during meetings and driving to consensus.


Strategy Planning

  • Facilitate the development of strategy and relevant roadmaps as well as monitoring of progress.


  • Facilitate knowledge sharing and communication across DDT with Platform and Service owners and Platform and Service Owners.


  • Collate and synthesize initiatives, services, and operations across the organization in preparation for governance meetings, ie QBR, QOR


  • Leads the leadership team in discussions on strategic matters such as assessment of capabilities and organizational gaps and organizes regularly held leadership team meetings.


  • Keep team aware of potential conflicts, dependencies, and new developments, and helps the leader assess changes and determine what, if any, actions to take.


Stakeholder Communications

  • Responsible for communication planning and orchestration to further promote DDT messaging, new governance or programs, HR and Financial communications.


  • Orchestrate, identify, and understand, leader engagement with internal and external key stakeholders to ensure successful relationship management.


  • Engage and communicate with peers across the organization to ensure delivery of prioritized outcomes and initiatives. (ie. Strategy Leaders across DDT, Finance, HR)


Leadership Team Effectiveness

  • Ensure across the function that leaders and teams are driving outcomes to successfully achieve KPIs, goals and objectives.


  • Identify opportunities within the organization and lead the team forward to completion of these initiatives as well as forging new working relationships and synergies.


  • Prioritize, plan, and facilitate leadership team meetings such that leaders are properly prepared, effective, and focused on the most important topics.


  • Record, follow up on, and transparently communicate leadership team decisions and actions.


  • Proactively identify and escalate potential issues and offer possible solutions.


  • Help leadership team to identify and address leadership team behaviors.


Confidant

  • Assist leader with confidential matters as needed.


  • Provide advice and guidance to the leadership team pertaining to internal developments as well as the external environment. Be an objective sounding board and close advisor.

  • Ensure strategic vision of organization is aligned with DD&T vision and Takeda strategy, providing guidance for necessary shifts to stay aligned and providing steer on how team can adjust to drive prioritized outcomes

  • Capacity to independently solve complex problems with potential to impact the company.


  • Minimizes complexity. Translates complex decisions and change initiatives into prioritized and integrated processes.


  • Proven track record of methodically assessing business, technical, and people decisions. Experience making decisions quickly, assessing decisions, pivoting quickly when needed.

  • Innovation will be required on the organizational level.


  • Sharing of best practices across locations and embedding key learnings into each new project will be critical.

EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
Required

  • Bachelor's degree.


  • Strong financial and business background, 10+ years of experience in a similar role in Fortune 50 technology organization or consulting practice.


  • Strategic thinker with strong conceptualization skills, yet flexible and nimble in thinking and approach to problem solving.


  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Able to lead and influence cross-functional teams.


  • Proven ability to develop and present succinct and inspiring presentations which clearly conveys a message to various audiences including senior leaders.


  • Ability to prioritize what matters in an ambiguous situation; simplify and execute.


  • Be comfortable presenting to senior leaders and have poise in complex and sometime ambiguous situation.


  • Demonstrate a can-do attitude and the ability to define success w/a bias towards action.


  • Possess an operations first mindset


  • Experience working within a complex organization and demonstrated ability to work across functions and regions, at all levels where the incumbent may not have direct authority.


  • Strong proven leadership capability with developed skills in team building, motivating, and developing people.


  • Can hold superiors and peers accountable for key deliverables in a collaborative manner.


  • Self-driven and clear track record of delivery.


  • Strong proven ability to manage large and global change agendas.


  • Ability to influence and work effectively with business partnerships, regions, and cultures.

U.S. Base Salary Range:
$205,100.00 - $322,300.00
The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/ or long-term incentives. U.S. based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others. U.S. based employees are also eligible to receive, per calendar year, up to 80 hours of sick time, and new hires are eligible to accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
