About this role

As the Head of Product Engineering at ReflexAI, you will play a key role in leading and scaling our engineering organization as we navigate the challenges and opportunities of a high-growth startup. With a focus on B2B environments, you will be responsible for crafting and executing a technical strategy that supports our ambitious impact and growth goals. You will lead the teams building the tools, with a focus on delivering tools that are secure, high-quality, and reliable. You will work closely with stakeholders across ReflexAI, including cofounders, Product, AI, and business teams to ensure our engineering processes align with the company’s objectives and compliance requirements, such as HIPAA, SOC 2, and HITRUST. The Head of Product Engineering will take a strategic and hands-on approach, planning and prioritizing while also diving into technical challenges and directly contributing to major initiatives. This role requires a dynamic leader who thrives in fast-paced, high-growth environments and is passionate about leveraging AI to drive meaningful impact across critical industries.

What you’ll do

  • Oversee the entire software development lifecycle, from design and development to testing, deployment, and maintenance
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of talented engineers and engineering managers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement
  • Build and scale the engineering organization through multiple stages of growth, adapting processes and structures as needed
  • Promote a culture of ownership, accountability, and technical excellence
  • Collaborate closely with product, AI, and business teams to define product requirements and deliver innovative solutions
  • Develop and execute the engineering roadmap, aligning with the company's overall strategic objectives
  • Ensure the scalability, reliability, security, and performance of our products, anticipating the needs of a rapidly growing user base and evolving product offerings
  • Drive the adoption of best practices in software development, including agile methodologies, CI/CD, and automated testing
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • Manage budgets and resources effectively, understanding the resource constraints and scaling challenges inherent in a high-growth startup environment
  • Establish and track key engineering metrics to monitor team performance, output, and product quality
  • Continuously improve engineering processes and workflows, adapting them to the changing needs of the organization as it scales
  • Other tasks, duties, or special projects as assigned
  • Throughout everything you do, deliver solutions that are aligned with our values of Security, Customer impact, Long-term mindset, Innovation, and Inclusion

Requirements for a great fit

  • Significant engineering leadership experience (typically 10+ years) in software development, with a track record of delivering scalable, secure products in a B2B environment
  • Proven experience (typically 5+ years) leading engineering teams in a startup setting, ideally guiding growth from early stages to a successful growth stage
  • Builder mindset with demonstrated success in developing and refining technical strategies and processes for new or evolving products
  • Experience in industries connected to ReflexAI, such as healthcare, public safety, and/or crisis response, with particular expertise in secure environments like HIPAA, SOC 2, or HITRUST compliance
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop diverse engineering teams
  • Proficiency in modern engineering practices, including CI/CD (e.g., GitHub Actions), cloud platforms (GCP and/or AWS), and infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform). A strong understanding of both back-end and front-end technologies, such as TypeScript, NestJS, NextJS, and tRPC, is beneficial
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain and present complex technical concepts to both technical experts and broader audiences
  • Adaptable, self-motivated, and able to thrive in the dynamic environment of a high-growth startup
  • Open-mindedness, evidenced by a willingness to consider other perspectives, adjust viewpoints in light of new data, and a constant desire to learn

Benefits

  • Generous retirement, equity, healthcare, and PTO policies
