Position Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Head of National/Direct Sales to lead our national sales strategy, manage a high-performing team, and drive revenue growth. This individual will leverage their expertise in the DSP space and deep understanding of the OTT/CTV landscape to expand market share and strengthen client relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
• Develop and implement national sales strategies to achieve revenue targets, with a focus on both new business acquisition and existing client retention.
• Identify growth opportunities within the OTT/CTV space and create strategies to capitalize on them.
• Set clear objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure sales success.
Team Management:
• Lead, mentor, and motivate a national sales team to exceed revenue goals.
• Provide guidance, coaching, and performance management to develop talent and ensure team success.
• Foster a high-performance sales culture that promotes collaboration and innovation.
Client Relationship Management:
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, agencies, and brand partners.
• Understand client needs and deliver tailored CTV/OTT advertising solutions to drive value and long-term partnerships.
• Act as a trusted advisor and thought leader within the industry.
Sales Execution:
• Oversee the entire sales cycle, from lead generation and prospecting to negotiation and campaign execution.
• Ensure a strong pipeline of opportunities to meet and exceed revenue targets.
• Partner with internal teams to optimize campaign performance and client satisfaction.
Market Expertise:
• Stay informed on industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive landscapes in CTV and OTT. Expertise in media landscape from national and local markets including digital and linear

• Educate clients on the evolving CTV/OTT landscape and the benefits of omnichannel solutions.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
• Analyze sales data to make informed, data-driven decisions and optimize strategies.
• Provide regular reporting on sales performance, market trends, and client feedback.
• Use insights to refine sales tactics and improve overall efficiency.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
• Work closely with marketing, product, and operations teams to drive company growth and enhance client experiences.
• Contribute to the development of new products and offerings based on market demand.
• Align sales strategies with overall company objectives.
Budget Management:
• Establish and manage budgets, expenses, and revenue forecasts for the sales department.
• Ensure cost-effective sales operations while maximizing profitability.
Sales Process Improvement:
• Continuously identify and implement improvements to the sales process to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
• Utilize technology and automation tools to streamline sales operations.
Industry Engagement:
• Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and trade shows.
• Actively engage with industry bodies and networks to stay ahead of emerging trends and opportunities.
Qualifications:
• 15+ years of experience in digital advertising sales, with a strong focus on DSP/OTT/CTV.
• Proven track record of leading a national sales team and exceeding revenue targets.
• Strong relationships with agencies, brands, and industry partners.
• Deep understanding of the programmatic advertising ecosystem and digital video landscape.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to analyze data and translate insights into actionable strategies.
• Highly motivated, results-driven, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.

Pay Range
$185,000—$205,000 USD
TEGNA offers comprehensive benefits designed to safeguard the physical, mental and financial health of our employees and their families. TEGNA offers two medical plan options for full and part-time employees through Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, as well as access to dental and eye care coverage; fertility, surrogacy and adoption assistance; disability and life insurance.
Our 401(k) program offers full, part-time and temporary employees the opportunity to contribute 1% - 80% of their pay on a pre-tax basis to TEGNA’s 401(k). Contributions made up to the first 4% of pay are eligible for a 100% match from the company and are 100% vested from day one.
Regardless of participation in TEGNA medical plans, ALL employees and their eligible family members receive nine free virtual doctor’s appointments with a physician through Teladoc, and 12 free annual therapy sessions with a licensed clinician through Spring Health.
