Drive development through inorganic growth
Strategic Business Development shares in Vanguard’s mission to take a stand for all investors. You can help us change the way the world invests, by identifying potential strategic opportunities that will increase value for our clients. You will lead a team tasked with guiding the organization through complex issues related to strategic partnerships and M&A and will be responsible for the entire deal process from sourcing to integration, including negotiating high profile and sophisticated deals that support Vanguard across multiple business areas.
In this role you will:Create value through M&A, partnerships and inorganic growth
Focused on building business value through unique partnerships, you’ll lead key activities related to possible strategic partnerships, joint ventures, and mergers and acquisitions and will report directly to the Head of Strategic Business Development. Blending your strong analytical and interpersonal skills, you will guide and consult senior leadership and other key stakeholders regarding your in-depth market research and detailed valuation models. The ideal candidate knows how to build and foster strong external networks, work cross functionally with internal teams, and negotiate key deal terms.
Core Responsibilities

Identify, assess, and evaluate M&A and partnership opportunities by delivering both quantitative and qualitative analyses, including financial models and scenario analysis, to estimate potential value, recommend inorganic growth and partnership opportunities and gain consensus on strategy and investment theses that align with Vanguard’s business goals and strategic priorities.

Handle multiple priorities, competing partner needs, motivate others, and foster teamwork.

Achieve broadly communicated objectives with a minimal amount of supervision.

Negotiate business terms and partnership and merger agreements, including drafting term sheets, and structure and close deals.

Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and clearly communicate in-depth market research, analyses and detailed models to senior stakeholders.

Work independently, with attention to detail and sensitivity to deadlines.

Coach less experienced crew in financial methodologies, partnership and M&A frameworks and approaches, and inorganic growth best practices based on deep knowledge of emerging trends and industry standards.

Strong conceptual thinking, time management, analytical, problem solving, negotiation, and persuasion skills.

Participate in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
Qualification
-
Ten years related work experience. Prior experience with strategic partnerships and M&A required. Experience leading M&A negotiation, execution, and integration in investment banking, corporate development, private equity, management consulting or similar.

Supervisory experience required.

Undergraduate degree required in Business, Economics, Finance, or similar.

Graduate degree preferred.

Asset management or financial services experience a plus.
