We are hiring remote workers for this role in Los Angeles or New York City. At this time, only candidates in these locations will be considered. 

What You’ll Do

The Head of Licensing will thoughtfully scale Calm’s global licensing strategy – through a combination of captivating products and experiences – to grow both revenue and brand equity. This role will sit within the Content & Marcomms department, report directly to the Chief Content Officer, and collaborate closely with leaders across the business (Partnerships, Marketing, Product, Content, Legal, Finance) to deliver more tangible touchpoints for Calm’s beloved brand, helping it evolve beyond its digital roots and resonate even more deeply with consumers.

Sample responsibilities include:

  • Develop and lead Calm’s global licensing strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals and brand values
  • Identify and negotiate high-value licensing partnerships across categories such as consumer products, retail, hospitality, wellness, and media
  • Build and manage a robust licensing pipeline, evaluating inbound opportunities while proactively identifying new areas for brand expansion
  • Partner cross-functionally with marketing, product, legal, and finance teams to align licensing initiatives with Calm’s overall business objectives
  • Lead the creative review process to ensure that all licensed products and experiences meet Calm’s brand and quality standards
  • Stay ahead of industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging licensing opportunities to position Calm as a leader in wellness-focused brand extensions
  • Establish and manage brand licensing KPIs, tracking performance metrics to optimize revenue and brand impact
  • Own the P&L for the licensing business

Who You Are

  • 10+ years experience in brand licensing, partnerships, or consumer product development, preferably for relevant lifestyle/wellness/media brands
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to work autonomously and scale a high-impact licensing program from the ground up
  • Bold creative vision coupled with the ingenuity and expertise required to bring category-leading products and experiences to market
  • Proven track record negotiating and managing high-profile licensing deals that drive both revenue and brand equity
  • Ability to inspire cross-functional collaboration, aligning stakeholders across creative and operational teams
  • Passion for Calm’s brand and mission 

Calm uses a geographic pay model that determines salaries based on the location where an employee lives. For this position, the base pay ranges across Calm’s pay tiers is as follows:

$173,000- $264,000

The base pay range represents the low and high end of Calm’s salary range for this position. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Exact salary will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, experience and other qualifications.

Calm uses employee zip code to determine which pay range applies.

This role is also eligible for equity + comprehensive benefits + 401k + flexible time off.
