Group Internal Audit (GIA) is an independent function that provides assurance to the Board of Directors and to the Audit Committee. We conduct our work by assessing the Bank’s ability to manage and control risks and advise the functions on how to enhance their risk management capabilities. We report directly to the Chairman of the Board and the Audit Committee.
For our legal entity Julius Baer (Middle East) Ltd. (JBME) in Dubai, and for the Region Emerging Markets, we are looking for a full time (100%) Head Internal Audit and Lead Auditor for the Region Emerging Markets. In this role you: are part of the Global GIA Leadership Team, are representing GIA towards local stakeholders including regulators, and plan, lead and carry out audits at JBME and as Lead Auditor for Emerging Markets in coordination and collaboration with the Group Audit Team based in Switzerland.
YOUR CHALLENGE
- Lead and develop the Internal Audit Function within Julius Baer (Middle East) Ltd., in the United Arab Emirates based in Dubai including leading a team member to be based in India, in coordination with Group Internal Audit.
- Communication and interaction with local stakeholders as well as local regulators in coordination with the Group Head of Internal Audit.
- As part of the GIA Leadership team, you support the Group Head of Internal Audit in executing GIA’s mandate to achieve the goals set by JB Group’s Board of Directors and the Audit Committee Board.
- Plan, lead, and execute audits as part of the Group Audit Plan as well as local audits following additional requirements by local regulators or stakeholders in Dubai and other Emerging Markets Region Countries mainly in the Private Banking, Investment Wealth Management, Risk Management and Legal & Compliance areas.
- Regular reporting to those charged with Governance as needed by local regulations and requirements and input to reports for the Groups Governing Bodies, as needed.
- Support the transformation and use of established and evolving techniques such as but not limited to data analytics, continuous risk monitoring and continuous auditing with the aim to improve audit quality and efficiency.
- Ensure timely completion the audit assignments, within budget and in line with audit standards and methodology.
- Discuss and support discussion of identified weaknesses and shortcomings with auditees and recommend feasible and value-adding actions supporting effective remediation of risks.
- Support and prepare audit reports and follow-up on the implementation of the ‘agreed audit actions’.
- Work in interdisciplinary teams (i.e. integrated process audits with IT, Data Analytics and other specialists, driving improvements in integrated audits).
- Ability to interact with a variety of stakeholders, build trusted partnerships, deliver sound opinion and present relevant solutions.
- Support special tasks (e.g. special audits, investigations, assurance and consulting work).
- Share best practices, contribute to the process, and audit methodology improvements.
- Stay actively informed on regulatory changes and bank internal developments.
- Contribute to the annual risk assessment, audit planning on Group level, take ownership of additional local requirements, and related audit planning in coordination with the Group Head of Internal Audit.
- Support and locally drive implementation of GIA team culture. Contribute to the positive team spirit. Motivate, support, train and coach team members locally and assigned to your work to improve their technical and personal skills and performance.
YOUR PROFILE
- Minimum of 10 years managerial experience in the financial services industry or within a big four accounting and advisory firm environment serving financial services industry in the area of audit, assurance, risk management, compliance or internal audit.
- University degree in Economics, Finance, Law or comparable qualification;
- Audit related certification such as CIA / CPA;
- Robust experience in the internal or external audit function in the financial service industry, with focus on Private Banking and Investment Wealth Management.
- Extended knowledge of the various directives, e.g. on AML Compliance, Suitability, and others
- In-depth knowledge of the regulations and circulars of the DFSA, covering the various areas of the business in Dubai
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills English. Additional language skills relevant to the Emerging Markets Region, are a plus.
- Experience in communicating with senior management stakeholders and regulators
- Affinity for new technologies and methodologies and how to apply them to Internal Audit with the aim to improve Internal Audits services and value provided to the stakeholders
- Structured and goal-oriented work approach with strong analytical skills and experience in applying such skills to audit related questions.
- Experience in auditing internal control systems and related processes and controls, front-to-back.
- A positive, forward-thinking personality and can-do attitude with a dedicated interest towards Private Banking, Investment Wealth Management and Audit topics.
- Flexible and committed leader and team player with the ability to work independently in the execution of assignments, also under pressure.
- Fast learner and active listener with strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Integrity.
- Willingness to travel up to 6 weeks per year.
