The Head of Information Technology will lead the strategic development, implementation, and ongoing management of advanced IT infrastructure, enterprise architecture, educational & corporate systems, and cybersecurity initiatives. This position is focused on driving operational excellence by integrating the latest technological advancements, including automation, AIOps, real-time observability, proactive monitoring, and robust cybersecurity measures. The role is central to fostering a culture of innovation, continuously evaluating and adopting emerging technologies, and delivering scalable IT solutions that enhance both administrative and academic experiences. A key responsibility will be to ensure IT services are seamlessly aligned with the evolving educational goals.
Key Responsibilities
IT Infrastructure and Operations Platform Development & Management
- Spearhead the design, implementation, and continuous optimization of the IT infrastructure operations platforms, ensuring they are high-performing, scalable, and secure to meet the evolving needs of the organisation.
- Lead the development and deployment of advanced observability and monitoring frameworks, delivering real-time insights into IT systems, applications, and services across the organisation.
- Drive the integration of AIOps for predictive analytics, anomaly detection, and data-driven decision-making, enhancing the efficiency and reliability of IT processes.
- Leverage machine learning and AI technologies to optimize incident management, root cause analysis, and service delivery, reducing downtime and improving response times.
- Champion the adoption of cutting-edge tools, including automation frameworks, AIOps platforms, and comprehensive observability solutions, to streamline IT operations and enhance user experiences.
- Develop a strategic roadmap for platform enhancements, ensuring alignment with organisation’s goals, emerging technologies, and industry best practices.
- Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to assess system health, proactively addressing potential issues and ensuring optimal service delivery.
- Implement intelligent tools and workflows that provide actionable insights, enabling rapid issue resolution and driving continuous improvement in IT services.
- Oversee and collaborate with the cybersecurity team to integrate robust security measures into operational platforms, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
- Ensure cybersecurity is seamlessly embedded within IT operations through proactive integration of security tools and practices, addressing emerging vulnerabilities and mitigating potential threats.
Innovation & Emerging Technology Operations Evaluation
- Continuously scan the technology landscape to identify and evaluate emerging technologies, assessing their potential impact and relevance to the organisation’s strategic goals.
- Lead the assessment, pilot testing, and successful integration of innovative solutions to drive improvements in IT operations and services.
- Cultivate an environment of creativity and experimentation, empowering teams to explore, test, and implement cutting-edge technologies that foster operational efficiency and enhance educational experiences.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Build and lead a dynamic, high-performance team that drives technological innovation and operational excellence across the organisation’s IT landscape.
- Work closely with cross-functional departments to ensure smooth adoption and integration of new technologies and platforms that align with academic and administrative needs.
- Serve as a thought leader and key advisor on technology strategy, guiding the organisation’s innovation initiatives and helping shape its digital transformation vision.
Key Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- 10+ years of lead experience in IT & cybersecurity operations, technology innovation, or a leadership role focused on technology transformation and/or operations.
- Extensive expertise in automation, AIOps, real-time observability, proactive monitoring, and cybersecurity technologies.
- Demonstrated success in leading technological innovation and transformation in complex and dynamic environments.
- In-depth understanding of IT operations frameworks, emerging technology trends, and how they can be applied to enhance educational systems.
- Proven experience in deploying automation tools, AIOps platforms, and observability solutions to improve operational workflows and decision-making.
- Strong expertise in cybersecurity principles, ensuring systems are resilient against evolving threats.
- Exceptional leadership capabilities with a focus on empowering teams, promoting innovation, and fostering a culture of lifelong learning and improvement.
- Strategic thinker with exceptional problem-solving, communication, and decision-making skills, capable of aligning technology initiatives with organisational priorities.
