This role is like the team’s captain for all things accounting across the Group. You’re responsible for overseeing every play in the accounting department, making sure the team is aligned and running smoothly. From managing day-to-day accounting tasks to analyzing financial data, you’re the one calling the shots and ensuring the financial strategies are sound. Just like a football captain ensures the team is cohesive and on point, you’ll collaborate with other finance managers in deciding on complex financial models and strategies that impact the entire business. You’ll also maintain strong internal controls, ensuring every pass is in line with the rules—keeping statutory compliance in check while driving business success. Your leadership will not only help the accounting departments perform at their best but also contribute to the overall financial strategy of the entire organization, much like a captain setting the playbook for success!

Job Description

Your playing field: 

• Lead interim and year-end audits, ensuring all files are prepared and acting as the go-to for finance-related queries, like a captain guiding the team.
• Collaborate with department heads and external partners, offering guidance on financial processes and ensuring everyone understands the impact of financial outcomes.
• Manage monthly profit and loss statements and balance sheets, analyzing them like a game tape to keep the team on track.
• Ensure all financial transactions are recorded accurately, like making sure each pass in the game is executed perfectly.
• Handle VAT returns, MGA reporting, and betting tax reports—keeping everything in order like post-game paperwork.
• Adjust the Group’s Chart of Accounts as the team’s needs evolve, similar to tweaking the lineup for better performance.
• Create and enhance financial policies and procedures, ensuring consistency across the team.
• Manage a team, ensuring they are trained and motivated to execute the game plan flawlessly.
• Assist in ad-hoc projects as may be required, to meet the dynamic operation of the company.

Qualifications

Which skills should you bring to the pitch: 

• Experience. 6 years of experience in the field, with 3 years in people management – A seasoned player with leadership experience on and off the field.
• Education. ACA/ACCA or University Degree qualified.
• Knowledge. Strong knowledge of Excel, IFRS, and financial systems (Navision preferred) are necessary. 
• Management. Experience managing and coordinating multiple workloads, processes, and projects – Like a player juggling multiple plays and roles to keep the team on track.
• Leadership. A natural captain, ready to inspire and guide the team.
• Problem Solver. Strong problem-solving and numerical skills – Quick on the ball, solving issues and making data-driven decisions.
• Analytical. Excellent analytical and quantitative skills – Breaking down the game tape and strategizing for optimal performance.
• Stakeholder Management. Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.
