Your Mission
The Head of Government Relations for Brazil oversees, designs, and deploys our public affairs strategy in the country to support the high-speed growth of our business in Brazil across all our verticals, from carpooling to bus marketplace. They are BlaBlaCar’s representative and key point of contact for all its public stakeholders at federal and state levels.The ideal candidate will bring a blend of technical expertise from a GR standpoint, strategic acumen, and a business-oriented mindset to navigate complex political and regulatory landscapes.
The Head of Government Relations for Brazil will report to our Head of Government Relations at Headquarters and work in close collaboration with our Head of Marketplace Brazil, with counterparts from the Legal team, as well as with local PR teams.
Your Responsibilities
- Develop and Execute Public Policy Strategies: Design and implement the company’s public affairs strategy to promote BlaBlaCar's vision of sustainable mobility and contribute to building a fair regulatory framework for carpooling.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Establish and maintain relationships with government officials, regulatory agencies, and key policymakers to advocate for shared mobility and carpooling and bus policies in Brazil.
- Regulatory and Legislative Monitoring: Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory developments impacting BlaBlaCar’s operations to give a head start to Legal teams while identifying opportunities for proactive engagement in order to defend or promote our model.
- Advocacy and Representation: Represent BlaBlaCar in industry associations, public forums, and conferences to promote the company's mission and policy objectives.
- Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Partner with internal teams (e.g., business, legal, communications, and operations) to align business goals with policy initiatives.
- Policy Communication: Develop position papers, policy briefs, and reports to effectively communicate BlaBlaCar's perspectives on mobility, sustainability, and digital innovation.
- Crisis Management and Problem-Solving: Address policy-related challenges impacting BlaBlaCar’s operations, proposing solutions to mitigate risks and enhance opportunities.
- Project Coordination: Lead strategic projects with government bodies and NGOs to advance shared mobility initiatives and environmental sustainability goals.
Your Qualifications
- Experience: at least 8 years of professional experience in government relations and public policy roles, whether in-house, at political level, or in an agency. Previous experience in the Tech or Transport industries is a plus.
- Exceptional Communication Skills: Strong drafting and verbal communication abilities, with a talent for presenting complex ideas clearly and concisely.
- Strategic Vision: Ability to grasp the broader context and communicate effectively at a strategic level.
- Team Collaboration: A great team player, capable of building strong relationships and working collaboratively across teams.
- Global Perspective: Comfortable operating across jurisdictions and adapting to different languages and cultures.
- Business-Driven and Creative: A solution-oriented mindset with the ability to creatively balance business priorities and public policy considerations.
- Autonomy and Initiative: Self-starter with a high degree of independence, able to take initiative and work proactively.
- Performance Under Pressure: Ability to thrive in fast-paced environments and meet tight deadlines.
- Language Proficiency: Native fluency in Portuguese and strong fluency in English; additional language skills are a plus. Please send your CV in English.
