The Role
The Head of global indirect procurement will have the global responsibility of the function. This is a leadership role where you will be the global process owner for Indirect, managing a hybrid organization of a few direct reports and the operational ownership of a outsourced organisation
This is a senior position, and you will be expected to know how to build and run this function out of Bucharest in cooperation with the rest of the Bucharest team.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Procurement Planning: Develop and implement the overall indirect procurement strategy aligned with the organization's objectives. - Supplier Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers globally, ensuring service excellence and optimizing costs.
- Contract Negotiations: Lead complex negotiations for indirect spend categories (e.g., IT services, marketing, facilities management, HR services).
- Cost Optimization: Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities through sourcing strategies, supplier consolidation, and demand management.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with internal departments (e.g., HR, Finance, IT, Marketing) to understand their needs and ensure procurement solutions meet organizational goals.
- Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure compliance with organizational policies, ethical sourcing standards, and regulatory requirements, while managing supply chain risks.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a global procurement team (mainly outsourced), ensuring development, performance, and alignment with procurement goals.
- Supplier Performance Management: Oversee the performance and accountability of suppliers, conducting regular reviews to ensure quality, delivery, and compliance.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Leverage data analytics and procurement tools to monitor spend, identify trends, and inform decision-making.
- Sustainability & Innovation: Promote sustainable procurement practices and identify opportunities for innovation within the indirect categories.
- Budget Management: Oversee budgets for indirect procurement, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and cost control.
- Global Coordination: Manage procurement activities across different regions, ensuring alignment with local regulations, cultural considerations, and market dynamics.
- Reporting & KPIs: Establish and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to track procurement performance and drive continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in procurement, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing indirect procurement or strategic sourcing.
- Proven experience in managing large-scale, multi-category indirect spend (e.g., IT, HR services, marketing, facilities, travel, etc.).
- Experience in supplier relationship management, including negotiating contracts, performance monitoring, and managing vendor portfolios.
- Familiarity with working in cross-functional teams and collaborating with various business units like finance, IT, HR, and legal.
- Experience with global procurement operations and navigating cross-cultural environments is a plus.
