Are you passionate about innovating with purpose and building high performance teams?  We’re seeking a Head of Engineering to lead tactical and strategic engineering initiatives designed to improve current processes, and through collaboration with R&D construct and scale-up new processes for our pipeline products.  In this critical leadership role you will be responsible for leading a team focused on process stability and compliance, and driving technical advancements through engineering solutions, as well as the application of lean manufacturing and operational excellence principles to elevate product quality, reduce waste, and enhance overall performance across the organization.  This is a unique “player/coach” opportunity for anyone not afraid to roll-up their sleeves to get things done, as well as caring for the growth and development of a team through effective coaching, respect, and  integrity.  


What You’ll Do

  • Lead strategy:  Along with R&D, define and execute a new product roadmap focused on the efficient development and scale-up of new processes.
  • Innovate:  Generate technical solutions to recurring and/or potential process issues, driving optimization, repeatability, and sustainable gains.
  • Empower through service:  Embody servant leadership by assisting in the growth and development of an engineering team (and others) through collaboration, technical knowledge sharing, problem solving, effective coaching, and inspiring excellence.
  • Promote change:  Support developing a culture that adopts the company value “learn always, improve continuously” through the teaching and application of lean manufacturing and operational excellence principles.   
  • Enable compliance:  Demonstrate ownership of critical elements within our quality management system that enable operations to proceed in accordance with regulatory standards and expectations.
  • Collaborate:  Partner with leaders in Manufacturing, Quality, and R&D to pursue excellence in all we do. 

Who You Are

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial or mechanical engineering.
  • 20+ years of experience in lean manufacturing, operational excellence, or process improvement roles.
  • 8+ years applying Lean skills in an AATB and/or FDA regulated industry is preferred.
  • 12+ years of leading a team responsible for driving process efficiencies, managing compliance requirements for facilities and equipment used in the manufacture of regulated products, and supporting investigations critical to assessing event impact on product quality, safety, and efficacy.
  • Fully verse in Lean principles/continuous improvement methods, demonstrated history of application and results, and ability to teach/coach others.
  • Analytical and process driven to convert data into executable action plans in support of specific outcomes.
  • Possess a bias for action.
