Job Mission


As the Head of Carbon Sales, you will develop, manage, and build relationships with carbon buyers and investors interested in participating in Terraformation’s native reforestation projects. To do so, you will develop an understanding of their ESG goals and how participating in Terraformation’s projects will help meet them to the highest possible standards. As a regular presence in the market, you’ll form relationships and influence decision-makers and sustainability leaders who work for the major buyers, financial companies, global impact funds, and others to facilitate the financing of our restoration projects through the purchase of carbon credits and/or direct investment.


Location: Remote; US preferred


Salary: Salary: $120,000 - $150,000, plus equity (depending on location and experience), and eligible for a performance-based bonus



Responsibilities


Sustainability Partnerships

• Engage key buyers, financial institutions, and global impact funds, understand their climate goals, investment criteria, geographical and risk appetite, and match them with our projects.

• Provide potential partners in our projects with a professional pitch of our capabilities, our project’s characteristics, and demonstrate how participation will help achieve their goals.

• Introduce Terraformation’s deal teams, which consist of forestry, carbon, project finance, legal, and other experts who will support you and execute transactions to the highest standard.

• Represent Terraformation at industry events, highlighting our successes, influencing the market, and generating new relationships.

• Communicate internally, ensuring Terraformation is up to date on the carbon and investors markets so we can ensure our projects remain relevant.


Lead Cross-Functional Collaboration

• In addition to being an influential face of Terraformation in the market, you will collaborate with Terraformation’s marketing, project finance, and legal teams to ensure projects are brought to market in an executable form to ensure efficient transaction execution, which directly meets our client’s goals.

• Offer insights into the carbon markets for the benefit of internal and external stakeholders and facilitate them staying up to date on the latest influences and direction.

• Implement best practices, mentor junior team members, and inform team development as required.



Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in business development, specifically as a relationship manager in a technical field such as project finance, investment sales, or other similarly complex product market
  • Recognized as a leader with a proven track record of negotiating with and building successful relationships with clients who have executed complex transactions repeatedly with your organization
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, capable of effectively conveying technical and complex topics
  • Familiarity with nature-based carbon solutions, particularly in forest-based projects
  • Strong pipeline management and excellent follow-ups
  • Fluent with modern sales tools, like CRMs (we use HubSpot) and notetakers
  • Enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, ideally as an early/founding member of a team or initiative
