Job Description
Candidates are invited to apply for the position detailed below Extendicare Michener Hill, a continuing care facility located in Red Deer Alberta. This facility is home to 220 Continuing Care beds and 60 Designated Assisted Living Beds.
Reporting to: Director of Care
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Director of Care, the HCA will:
- Provide personal assistance and support services for residents
- Provide essential and important daily living support and comfort to residents including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting and all other ADL’s.
- Communicate resident care needs, observations and concerns to professional staff.
- Involved in the orientation and mentorship of new HCA staff and students
- Interact with residents/families and other team members regarding any care needs
- Work collaboratively within the interdisciplinary team
- Health Care Aide Certification or subsequent equivalency required (LPN students who have completed first year, BScN students who have completed second year)
- Experience working within a long-term care setting an asset
- Strong organization, time management and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within the team
- Strong communication skills --- ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English
