Our award-winning products help our global community gain a deeper knowledge of their readiness, activity, and sleep quality by using their Oura Ring and its connected app. We've helped 2.5 million people understand and improve their health by providing daily insights and practical steps to inspire healthy lifestyles.

We are seeking a Hardware System Architect to join our Hardware Core Technology group, which drives the direction of next-generation wearable products at Oura. This role requires a deep understanding of hardware product development, hands-on engineering expertise, and a strong grasp of human physiology, signal processing, and techniques for monitoring and analyzing biosignals.

The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience in at least two of the following domains: Firmware, Electronics, or Mechanics, with a proven track record of working on consumer hardware devices such as wearables, smartphones, or similar products. This individual will play a critical role in bridging the gap between cutting-edge technologies and their integration into scalable, high-performing products.

What You will do:

  • System Architecture Design: Develop and define the architecture of embedded systems for Oura’s wearable products, focusing on scalability, reliability, and performance.
  • Hands-On Engineering: Contribute directly in at least two areas—firmware development, electronics design, or mechanical systems—to ensure a deep technical understanding and practical application of solutions.
  • Signal Processing Expertise: Develop and implement algorithms for processing biosignals, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and meaningful insights for users.
  • Techniques for Biosignal Monitoring: Leverage expertise in techniques for monitoring and analyzing biosignals, such as temperature, heart rate, and movement, to deliver innovative and accurate health insights.
  • Hardware-Software Integration: Collaborate closely with software, hardware, and design teams to ensure seamless integration of all system components.
  • Technology Evaluation and Maturation: Assess new technologies and components, validating their readiness for integration into scalable product programs.
  • Production Process Insight and Support: Provide expertise and support during production creation processes, offering technical insights to ensure smooth transitions from concept to mass manufacturing.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with science, design, and supply chain teams to align technology development with user needs and market goals.

We would love to have You on our team, if you have:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven hands-on expertise in at least two of the following areas: firmware, electronics, or mechanics.
  • Solid understanding of hardware systems, including mechanics and electronics.
  • Strong knowledge of human physiology, signal processing, and techniques for monitoring and analyzing biosignals.
  • Experience in production creation processes for consumer hardware products such as phones, wearables, or similar devices.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional, fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with wireless communication protocols (e.g., Bluetooth, BLE, NFC).
  • Experience with ultra-low-power systems and miniaturized hardware design.
  • Background in health technology or medical devices.
