The PositionGroup Master Data Architect
Job Summary
The purpose of a Master Data Architect is to design, create, deploy, and manage an organization's master data architecture and associated business rules. This includes defining how data will be stored, consumed, integrated, and managed by different data bodies and IT systems. The Master Data Architect works closely with business stakeholders, data analysts, and IT teams to ensure that the master data architecture meets the organization's current and future needs. He is also in charge to establish best practices for data management, data security, and data quality.
KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Collaborating and coordinating with business stakeholders (Data Owners, Subject Matter Experts, etc.) and technical teams to understand MDM requirements and challenges

Designing, configuring, and developing tangible solutions using various MDM technologies, including identifying opportunities for the design of best-of-breed MDM solutions

Deploying and maintaining Imerys' master data model, including entities, fields, interfaces, and metadata
-
Working closely with Data Owners and the Business to understand their needs and develop the master data model accordingly

Collaborating with Business Process Owners (BPOs) and System Owners (e.g., ERPs) to align with Imerys processes and data definitions

Aligning with the BI roadmap and future priorities for Commercial, Sustainability, Purchasing, HR, and Operations domains

Collaborating with other MDM experts to assist with the monitoring and preservation of the quality of the master data

Analyzing needs and developing architecture/specifications of interfaces with other systems in terms of data management to improve data agility

Contributing to the Data Governance initiative and framework definition to align people, processes and technologies to current and futures data challenges

Being responsible for metadata architecture, including data relationship

Ensuring that data integration from IT applications provides the expected data and liaising with IT System Owners if adjustments are needed

Accompanying other projects related to data to ensure compliance with Data Management standards

Coordinating, developing, maintaining, and communicating the data documentation initiative: data catalog, data glossary, data dictionary, data lineage and documentation on metadata

Promoting data model and adherence to global governance practices, as well as driving acceptance of globally accepted data standards and policies

Providing out-of-the-box thinking/solutions for optimization topics and accompanying change management when needed

Ability to engage and influence stakeholders, showcasing the value and impact of master data architecture on business outcomes and the ability to adjust your message from abstract/conceptual to engineering detail - depending on your audience.
QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.

10+ years of Data Architecture experience leading MDM architecture roadmaps, defined business cases and implementations efforts

Strong business and technical background in the area of Master & Reference Data Management

Proven ability to gather business requirements, solution design with technical teams, and write functional specification documents, including business rules, match and merge rules, survivorship rules, etc.

Capable of analyzing complex problems including identifying root cause issues, generating a concise summary of analysis
-
Hands-on experience with business processes across multiple master data domains
-
Must be comfortable presenting complex technology subjects to both technical and nontechnical audiences

Demonstrate strong communication, analytical and organizational skills

Ability to see the big picture and then break down into tactical solutions/actions
-
Strong communication skills with the ability to persuade/influence others at all levels of the organization

Proven ability to handle multiple projects and duties of different urgency and importance at the same time
