Group Manager, Software Engineering

About the Role: 

We are seeking a seasoned technology leader with a track record of building high-performing engineering teams that deliver exceptional software products. In this role, you will lead the development of key projects, including our Alteryx Engine, a critical component of the Alteryx product suite, and our Designer Cloud product. Responsibilities:

• Responsible for hiring, inspiring, and leading multiple high-performing teams and senior individual contributors, while coaching, mentoring, and supporting team members in achieving their career goals and maintaining high team morale
• Responsible for end to end delivery and timeline of features including design, development and testing
• Works with technical leadership team to develop a technical strategy for Engine and Designer Cloud to support the roadmaps of the products within the Alteryx product suite
• Works with Product to define high-level product features and initiatives, evaluates them for feasibility and estimates effort required
• Collaborates across other dependent investment areas (Auto Insights, Platform, Location Intelligence, Flagship, AppBuilder, and AutoML products) as well as cross-functional teams to ensure successful execution and great product releases across the entire Alteryx platform
• Collaborates with fellow leadership to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements and optimize software delivery processes, ensuring streamlined operations and enhanced productivity
• Fosters a positive work environment by modeling exemplary servant leadership, mentoring team leads, and developing emerging leaders in this leadership style
• Demonstrates the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team, ensuring clear and effective communication across a geographically and culturally diverse organization

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in leading and managing diverse, global teams, with the ability to navigate and adapt to different cultures and work styles
• Must be decisive and able to make quick, informed decisions in high-pressure situations, ensuring timely and effective execution of tasks and objectives
• 10+ years of experience in software development with 4+ years of experience managing large software teams; strongly prefer multi-location delivery experience
• Significant leading the building complex technical products
• Demonstrable experience and interest in architecting complex software products/solutions; deep familiarity with modern technologies, design principles, and patterns
• Deep understanding and commitment to software engineering principles/processes (e.g. Agile, DevOps, TDD, XP) and continuous improvement through measurement
• Knowledge of best practices around service telemetry, including metrics aggregation, distributed logging and tracing in large, distributed systems
• Knowledge of build systems and continuous integration/deployment tools and strategies including Jenkins
• Exceptional critical thinking, decision-making, problem-solving abilities, and a keen attention to detail
• Demonstrated success in enhancing software reliability and ensuring predictable releases
• Extensive experience with cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS
