At Gensler, we design for people. We leverage our global perspective and local presence to innovate at every scale. We’re not just designers. We’re tinkerers, craftspeople, visionaries, innovators, and thought leaders. Fueled by passion and entrepreneurial spirit, our people bring new ideas to solve the world’s most challenging problems, like designing a more resilient, inclusive, and equitable future for our communities and cities.

Gensler’s vision is to “Create a Better World through the Power of Design,” and we do that by our deep commitment to our clients and by fostering a collaborative, diverse, and inclusive environment that enables our people to create impactful solutions together.

Your Role

The Senior Graphic Designer will be responsible for working with the Executive Communications Team and Senior Leadership—primarily the Co-CEOs and Global Co-Chairs—to design inspiring keynote presentations with stunning photography, motion, and data visualizations; compelling digital assets, including graphics for emails and social media; and high-quality visuals for digital and print collateral including banner graphics, organizational charts, process diagrams, and more, to drive strategic messages for internal and external audiences.

A successful candidate must thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment where the stakeholders are fellow designers. A successful team member will be a seamless and open communicator with strong organizational skills and an appetite for rapid iterative editing. This person will quickly become familiar with the firm’s leaders and subject matter experts, as well as the resources and knowledge networks needed to accomplish a wide variety of projects and tasks. The ability to juggle multiple short- and long-term deadlines and prioritize initiatives is critical in this role. This position will be onsite 5 days per week in Gensler’s Washington D.C. office.

What You Will Do

  • Work closely and collaboratively with the Director of Executive Communications, Executive Communications Managers, and a Los Angeles-based Graphic Designer to conceptualize and design digital and print collateral for the firm’s senior-most leaders (the Co-CEOs and Global Co-Chairs), including:

    • Keynote presentations for two major annual internal meetings

    • Presentations for external audiences (industry groups, conferences, clients)

    • Graphics for internal and external newsletters, including email design and setup, and more

  • Think creatively about the Gensler brand, identify opportunities, strategies, creative partners, and trends

  • Present creative projects to leaders and partners to establish a design direction and gain consensus and buy-in

  • Partner with other designers across the firm to develop innovative and effective designs that drive the Gensler brand forward

  • Provide ad hoc graphics support for internal presentations and special projects as assigned

  • Maintain a knowledge of and stay up to date on industry best practices, taking initiative to introduce new workflows, technologies, programs, tools, ideas, and other resources to the team for consideration

Your Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • At least 5-10 years of relevant agency or in-house Graphic Design experience

  • Portfolio of work demonstrating creative solutions across a broad range of mediums

  • Firmly grounded design skills and a sense of creative conviction empowering you to guide, evaluate, and—if necessary—constructively redirect creative development

  • Experience working with all levels of an organization, including senior leadership

  • Ability to start, pick-up or hand-off an in-progress project as needed

  • Solid project management skills: ability to coordinate, prioritize, and handle multiple projects simultaneously and often independently

  • Strong communication skills to manage internal and external resources and work collaboratively with colleagues across disciplines

Technical Qualifications

  • Expert knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite: InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver

  • Expertise in motion graphic design and development software (e.g. After Effects)

  • Experience with video editing software including Adobe Premiere

  • Working knowledge of HTML/CSS for email design and development (Adobe Dreamweaver)

  • Interest in and enthusiasm for experimenting with AI image generation platforms like Adobe Firefly, DALL·E 3, Midjourney, and Stable Diffusion

  • Familiarity with accessibility standards for visual design

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)

**The compensation range for this position in Washington, DC is estimated between $90k-$100K plus bonuses and benefits and contingent on relevant experience.
