SUMMARY (BASIC PURPOSE OF THE JOB)
Creates all visual design including typography, visual concept, logo and icon design for the organization. Ensures that visual design communicates the desired message and functions successfully. Manages media buys and vendors. Manages budgets and meets deadlines. Ensures compliance with organization's brand guidelines.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor's degree in Marketing or Graphic Design.
Experience: Five years of experience as a graphic designer. Experience in corporate branding, layout, color theory and typography in both print and digital media.
Knowledge and Skills: Strong design and conceptual skills. Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines and budgets. Ability to work with a large variety of clients. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to supervise interns and volunteers. Proven ability to create original design solutions and provide consistent brand communication and positioning. Ability to create ads, direct mail, postcards, flyers, brochures and other marketing collateral.
Special Training:Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Communicates with and coordinates staff to achieve desired messaging. Plans, analyzes, and creates visual solutions to meet communications objectives. Finds the most effective way to get messages across in print and electronic media using various print and layout techniques.
- Acts as a creative resource and exercises discretion and judgement to develop the overall layout and production design. Executes designs that are consistent with and effectively communicates messaging.
- Assists marketing team with brainstorming, marketing and advertising strategies resulting in creative and dynamic solutions.
- Manages print and other vendors and contains job costs. Solicits bids from print vendor and manages print production. Prepares final layout for print and oversee production process internally or with vendors.
- Buys media consistent with stated strategic objectives.
- Stays within given budgets on projects. Recommends ways to reduce costs.
- Manages production schedules and meets all deadlines. Provides multiple types of collateral including newsletters, brochures, design pieces and web design art.
- Reviews and updates brand guidelines regularly. Communicates brand guidelines to employees on a regular basis to ensure compliance.
- Reviews all uses of logo for consistency with brand guidelines.
- Manages and delegates work responsibilities to freelance designer and outside vendors.
