Description of assignment
Vanderlande is a market leading, global partner for logistic process automation. One of Vanderlande’s key product is the loopsorter which exist in a so called crossbelt sorter & a helix sorter which Vanderlande develops and produces. See also: Vanderlande CROSSORTER - YouTube. In order to strengthen Vanderlande’s market position the loopsorter is being developed on continuous base. As part of this continuous development, we have defined this assignment.
The scope of the assignment is to investigate and determine the most optimal belt drive system for crossorters. Considered, ease of production, installation, functionality, lifetime, maintainability, and cost.
Department description
The Technology department (R&D) plays a key role in the continuous development of new products and technologies to strengthen our position on the market and differentiate our products. You will be part of the Loopsorter team (Internal system) which operates within the Technology department. The loopsorter team is a multidisciplinary team that develops Vanderlande’s loopsorter systems under which the crossbelt sorter.
Tasks/responsibilities
- Setup the requirements for the loopsorter belt drive system together with stakeholders.
- Analyze the current design in combination with alternative designs using the known concept selection methods (morphological overview).
- Detail the most promising concepts further and validate these to the requirements.
- Conclude and advise Vanderlande on the design directions for the belt drive system of future loopsorters.
