About the Role
As Faropoint’s GP Assistant Controller/Controller you will help build and automate processes, enhance operational efficiencies, and support the company's growth trajectory. The ideal candidate will be process-driven and open-minded, with a strong background in corporate accounting and technology. You will play a pivotal role in building out the company's expense allocation and structure, while leading the financial close.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the month-end closing process including journal entries, bank reconciliations, supporting all balance sheet accounts, and accruals. Research account activity as needed
- Responsible for all facets of the expense allocation close process including reviewing and analyzing all expenses booked, and understanding the related allocation methodologies of these expenses to the management companies
- Review fee related items (management fees, transaction fee offsets)
- Reconcile intercompany transactions
- Prepare payroll accounting entries
- Assist and resolve any consolidation issues
- Help develop and maintain efficient internal controls and business processes
- Continuously identify efficiencies and improve effectiveness by determining best practice
- Interact with different departments in the firm including Fund Accounting, Legal and Property Accounting, Treasury
About You
- 5 + years of relevant accounting experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business or related field
- Adept at Excel formulas including, but not limited to, V-lookups, Pivot tables and sum-ifs
- Yardi knowledge required
- Familiarity with Concur, Netsuite, Kyriba is a plus
- Have strong and proficient technology skills and be able to produce accurate and professional documents.
- Be able to effectively handle multiple tasks and responsibilities while demonstrating attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
- Be able to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong interpersonal skills
- A proactive, deadline-driven mindset with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Experience with general ledger accounting systems and ability to learn and utilize multiple systems.
