The Opportunity

Pharma Technical Technology (PTT) within Pharma Technical Operations (PT) ensures successful industrialization and technical product management by integrating SHE, maintenance, facility fitness, performance optimization, and scalable processes for manufacturing. Key areas include product and process robustness, efficiency, and reliability.

The global Manufacturing Science and Technology (gMSAT) team within PTT manages commercial products and networks, implements new technologies, standardizes processes, and mitigates risks. Organized into product-focused teams for Large and Small Molecules, Technology and Network Standards, and Operations, they work in cross-functional squads.

The Technical & Network Standards Group Lead oversees developing and implementing technology and network standards, collaborating with Technical Development and Manufacturing teams. They ensure adherence to these standards and manage technological innovations. The role provides leadership to the standards team, aligning efforts with PT's strategic goals.

The Group Lead also represents network technological needs in key governance forums and stakeholder interactions, including the Global MSAT Leadership Team and other critical groups.

  • Lead a team of senior experts to identify, initiate, and lead technology initiatives and quality business processes that improve product robustness and forward-looking capabilities throughout the product lifecycle
  • Interface with Technical Development and Manufacturing teams to ensure that technology innovations align with PT Strategy, delivering consistent network standards
  • Oversee a portfolio of complex and strategic cross-functional projects focused on technical standardization and new technologies
  • Set the vision to define and deliver team outcomes in alignment with Roche strategy and PTT/PT outcomes, determining success criteria for relevant project portfolios
  • Enable appropriate squad staffing, resources, standards, project prioritization, processes, and work package definitions to ensure successful outcomes
  • Interface with other gMSAT and PTT teams, Capability Teams, TPC, DSTS, DPTC, and other governance bodies as needed
  • Responsible for coaching, development, and engagement of a global technical team of senior scientific experts, supporting talent flow across gMSAT and PTT teams in line with individual development plans and strategic workforce planning

Who you are

  • Advanced degree in a scientific discipline with at least 10+ years of relevant experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry, including process development, operations/manufacturing, or related areas

  • Proven senior leadership experience utilizing advanced VACC leadership skills, and commitment to creating an inclusive environment where team members feel safe, valued, and empowered

  • Proven expertise in technology industrialization for both small and large molecules, and the ability to align with Roche’s leadership model by combining strategic clarity with innovative and coaching abilities

  • Outstanding ability to build connections, encourage feedback, and foster a collaborative environment

  • Established recognition in industry forums as an expert in manufacturing technologies and standardization, with travel requirements of less than 10%

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $159,000 to $295,200 annually. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.  A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance.  This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
