Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Vice President & Senior Counsel to join our Legal team. The successful candidate will provide expert legal counsel on regulatory, transactional, and operational matters related to our OTC derivatives business, with particular focus on FX and interest rate products.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive legal support for the firm's OTC derivatives business, specializing in FX and interest rate products
- Draft, review, and negotiate ISDA Master Agreements, Credit Support Annexes, and other derivatives documentation
- Advise on CFTC regulations, applicable bank regulation, Dodd-Frank compliance, and other applicable regulatory requirements for swap dealers
- Support new product development by identifying and addressing legal and regulatory considerations
- Collaborate with business, operations, and compliance teams to ensure regulatory compliance in trading activities
- Monitor regulatory developments and provide strategic advice on implementation of new regulations
- Represent the firm in industry groups and regulatory discussions
- Manage relationships with external counsel on complex matters
- Provide training to business units on relevant legal and regulatory issues
Qualifications
- JD degree from an accredited law school
- 10+ years of relevant legal experience in derivatives, with specific expertise in OTC FX and interest rate products
- In-depth knowledge of CFTC and bank regulations applicable to swap dealers
- Strong understanding of Dodd-Frank Title VII, EMIR, and other global derivatives regulations
- Extensive experience with ISDA documentation and negotiation
- Previous experience at a financial institution, law firm with strong financial services practice, or regulatory agency
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to explain complex legal concepts to non-legal colleagues

The role is located in State Street’s offices in Boston, MA or in Jersey City, NJ
