The General Accountant will play a key role in supporting the accounting operations, including financial accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, treasury functions, and month-end closing processes. This position will also assist in documenting accounting procedures and implementing internal controls to mitigate risks across accounting functions. The General Accountant will report to the Tax & Compliance Supervisor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing monthly financial statements and ensure accuracy.
- Contribute to the monthly variance analysis and evaluate performance indicators.
- Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or applicable financial reporting standards in all financial reporting.
- Complete all account reconciliations in a timely manner.
- Support external auditors by providing necessary financial statements and information during the annual audit.
- Assist in preparing annual budget reports.
- Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Identify areas for improvement in accounting processes and recommend updates.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the accounting department.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required.
- At least 5 years of relevant accounting experience required.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is highly preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional organizational and time management abilities.
- Proficient in accounting software and tax preparation tools.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) or similar software.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.
- Occasional travel may be required.
