We are seeking a highly motivated individual who possesses a strong background in financial audit and a deep understanding of the insurance industry. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of applying technical accounting expertise in dynamic environments, a keen ability to think critically in complex situations and the ability to maintain a strong internal controls environment.

Role overview:
As our GAAP Accounting Manager, you’ll report into our Assistant Controller, GAAP Accounting.
The day-to-day consists of participation in the monthly accounting close process for the Company’s domestic and international entities, with a focus on its insurance legal entities, including the processing of journal entries and account reconciliations for premiums, claims, reinsurance, and statutory accounting principles to GAAP adjustments. You’ll participate in internal and external reporting, which includes assisting with internal management reporting and variance analysis. You’ll be empowered to create an environment of cross-functional collaboration and strong internal controls that better support our financial reporting process. Success in this role will include a demonstrated knowledge in insurance accounting principles, strong execution of competing priorities and ad hoc projects, and an energetic focus on data analysis and process improvement.
How you’ll make an impact:
By 3 months:
- You fully understand and contribute to the timely completion of our month-end close and financial statement reporting process.
- You understand our business and have established relationships across our Finance team and cross-functional stakeholders.
- You identify areas of improvement in our monthly reporting process and accounting systems.
- You assist in the preparation of quarterly and/or annual financial statements.
- You prepare and review internal management reports, including working with key internal stakeholders on variance analysis.
By 6 months:
- You assist in the coordination and communication with internal and external stakeholders on all key matters, including corresponding with auditors and advisors on technical accounting matters.
- You continuously identify process improvements and automation efforts.
- You actively identify and implement procedures to strengthen our internal controls environment.
- You assist in the research, reporting and documentation of all technical accounting matters.
What you’ve already accomplished:
- You’ve combined your financial audit experience and insurance-industry knowledge to contribute to the success of a dynamic and fast-paced Finance department by rolling up your sleeves, taking ownership of tasks and diving into complex projects with a critical thinking mindset.
- You’ve used your in-depth knowledge of GAAP accounting standards to ensure the accurate and complete recording of accounting transactions and develop adequate accounting processes and documentation.
- You’ve developed a passion for identifying and executing opportunities for operational efficiencies and streamlined workflows and use your critical-thinking skills to propose well-thought-out solutions.
Our estimated base pay range for this role is $120,000-150,000 per year. Base salary is determined by a variety of factors including but not limited to market data, location, internal equitability, domain knowledge, experiences and skills.
