Role Description
The Industrial Communications Business Units team is seeking a Product Applications Engineer to provide support for Industrial Interface and IO products.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting serial interface, Industrial Digital Input/Output devices, and IO-Link products across a broad range of industrial applications. This includes supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) as well as generating technical content such as writing applications notes and giving technical support to Field Application Engineers (FAEs) and customers. The Applications Engineer will support assigned IC products through the full product life-cycle from proof of concept, early evaluation, to product release and customer support.
We are looking for someone who can understand the technical problems customers are facing and can provide technical solutions. The candidate will be responsible for designing evaluation boards, conducting bench evaluation, generating test reports, and providing trainings to FAEs. The product applications engineer works closely with customers, Design Engineering, Test Engineering, Product Marketing, Sales and Field Applications organization.
The strategic applications engineer role is highly valued at ADI and our applications engineers receive considerable recognition for their work. The successful candidate will become part of a close-knit winning team.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, working with other application group members to:

Design and build evaluation boards, and automation of bench test setup

Conduct precision measurement and collect data for data sheets and characterization

Work closely with design engineers, marketing, and customers throughout the product evaluation and release

Provide technical support to key customers and field applications engineers
-
Hands-on experience designing, programming, testing, and debugging the evaluation boards and test setup
-
Generate the data sheet and application notes to assist customers with designs
Minimum Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering
-
0 - 2 years’ experience
-
Understanding of analog and digital system design
-
Basic knowledge and experience in interface technologies such as RS-485, CAN, serial interfaces such as SPI and I2C, and mixed signal technology such as ADC/DAC.

PCB design experience with schematic capture and layout to board fabrication and bring up
-
Lab testing experience using common test equipment (Oscilloscope, DMM, Signal Generators, Source Meter, etc.)

Communicate effectively, both internally and externally, via verbal and written communication
-
Prioritize and manage several open tasks simultaneously, work both independently and with a cross-functional team
Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of analog mixed-signal circuit design
-
Familiar with schematic capture tools such as Cadence Allegro

System or hardware debug experience

Experience with Python or LabView programming and NI automation setup

Knowledge of EMI/EMC standards and test experience
