This position supports the internal quality audit program at BAE Systems Space & Mission Systems Inc. (SMS), including the planning, scheduling, execution, verification and maintenance of audit information for the full organization. The individual in this position will work independently and effectively with all levels of management and staff across the business to ensure compliance to external and internal quality requirements. This position will also interface with external quality auditors and maintain industry engagements and certifications.
The Enterprise Assurance Strategic Capabilities Unit delivers critical assurance disciplines that protect and enable people, data and missions. We provide a comprehensive approach to managing risk across the enterprise for current and future information environments where the business and missions execute. We apply the use of innovative tools and robust processes to ensure mission and business success.
What You'll Do:

  • Plan and perform internal audits for SMS AS9100/ISO Quality Management System using a process approach.
  • Perform Quality Management System procedure and document reviews.
  • Perform and complete audit assignments within the expected time frame.
  • Interview auditees performing processes.
  • Prepare written audit reports and conduct closing meetings with area management.
  • Document process nonconformities and opportunities.
  • Perform follow up activities and evaluation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Focus on continuous improvement with a working knowledge of methods like PDCA, Lean Six Sigma.
  • Represent the company in external audits and industry groups.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.


On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site three or more days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.
Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor.


Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • BS/BA in a related field plus 4 or more years related experience.
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • Good interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Solid communication skills.
  • Good analytical skills with the emphasis on the ability to analyze trend data.
  • A working understanding of the ISO9001 and/or AS9100 standard and its requirements.
  • Ability to obtain level of clearance needed to audit in controlled access areas (CAA).


A security clearance or access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position. However, the applicant must be willing and eligible for submission, depending on program requirements, after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • AS9100 Lead Assessor training.


Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $81156 - $137964
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
