Job Description

Purpose of the role

To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues. 

Accountabilities

• Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
• Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
• Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
• Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
• Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
• Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.

This role would be part of USCB Cards platform team. The Cards Platform Team is responsible for the reengineering and re-architecture of various backend services and applications in a manner that is suited for continuous, rapid and reliable delivery. The group is also responsible for conceptualizing and leading the implementation of next generation technology stacks.

To be successful as a Full Stack Java Developer, you should have:

• Strong experience developing Java, J2EE Applications, REACT, REST/SOAP services, Spring, Spring Boot

• Experience with software engineering practices (E.g., unit testing, code reviews, design documentation)

• Familiarity with Git, Sonar Qube, App Dynamics, Kibana, Postman & SOAP UI

• Working with an integrated development environment (IDE) like IntelliJ IDEA

• Possess a strong knowledge of coding standards and best practices, Sonar, Veracode and Jenkins experience is good

Other highly valued skills include:

• AWS and infrastructure development experience plus

• Experience in cross platform development with REACT Native

• Experience in Build docker images and deploy images in containerized environment

• Experience in write Kubernetes configuration by using helm chat
