About Clear Street:

Clear Street is modernizing the brokerage ecosystem. Founded in 2018, Clear Street is a diversified financial services firm replacing the legacy infrastructure used across capital markets.

We started from scratch by building a completely cloud-native clearing and custody system designed for today’s complex, global market. Our platform is fully integrated with central clearing houses and exchanges to support billions in trading volume per day. We’ve agonized about our data model abstractions, created horizontal scalability, and crafted thoughtful APIs. All so we can provide a best-in-class experience for our clients.

By combining highly-skilled product and engineering talent with seasoned finance professionals, we’re building the essentials to compete in today’s fast-paced markets.

The Team:

The mission of the Clear Street Broker-Dealer Clearing (BDC) team is to design the technology that enables the largest trading firms in the world to operate. We automate the processes that ensure trades happen: ensuring the details are correct, the money and assets change hands on time, and making sure that the risk is managed appropriately.  The team works across our technology stack and core services and systems (Clearing, Custody, Settlement, Account Management and Trade Processing & Middle Office) to address gaps through enhanced engineering solutions.

Tech Stack: Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, Go, TypeScript, React, Redux, Kafka, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS

The Role:

  • You will solve challenging engineering problems that underpin the financial system, handling tens of millions of trades/day
  • You will build highly available, scalable, mission-critical applications in a modern technology stack
  • You will collaborate with other engineering teams to address scalability concerns to enable higher volumes of trades
  • You will work with users to understand and define new features and drive them to completion
  • You will develop a deep understanding of the business domain

Requirements:

  • At least five (5) years of professional software engineering experience and strong proficiency with Java and our tech stack listed is preferred
  • BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or similar major
  • Deep knowledge of computer science fundamentals, such as algorithms and data structures
  • High degree of self-motivation and willingness to jump into unfamiliar areas to solve problems
  • Ability to work with stakeholders to develop new product ideas, design the technology to implement them, and see them through to completion
  • Experience in building trading systems or high-throughput streaming applications

We Offer:

In-office benefits include lunch stipends, fully stocked kitchens, happy hours, a great location, and amazing views.

Our top priority is our people. We’re continuously investing in a culture that promotes collaboration. We help each other through challenges and celebrate each other's successes.
