The Role: Frontend QA Engineer
The UI Engineer role at Dremio plays a critical part in delivering an outstanding customer experience through our frontend UI. We are building several new features, such as SQL Editor, Query Visualizer, and other UI enhancements, which include the creation of new UI pages and the restructuring of existing ones. This position will be responsible for testing these UI pages to ensure they function correctly and meet the expectations. The UI Engineer will also ensure the UI aligns with the requirements set by the product and UX teams, delivering a smooth user experience. Additionally, the role includes responsibility for end-to-end automation.
What you'll be doing
- Work in collaboration with UI Development team and product managers to ensure quick, efficient and high quality product is delivered
- Look up the specs, and make sure each feature conforms to the requirements and functions the same way across different browsers
- Write and execute test plans for various UI features
- Write end-to-end tests in playwright test automation framework
- Have a deep understanding of WCAG accessibility guidelines and make sure the Dremio UI is WCAG compliant.
- Come up with an effective strategy for end-to-end test runs, and make sure test failures are aptly reported immediately to the relevant stakeholders
- Review product requirements and UX Figmas
- Develop and review test plans
- Code and test reviews to ensure high quality code
- Customer Experience focused test methodology, performance, negative test scenarios for UI
- Build/Maintain CI pipelines for UI
What we're looking for
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or alternative related field (or commensurate work experience)
- 5-7 years experience working with UI automation tools/frameworks (Javascript, REACT, playwright)
- A demonstrated history of strong proficiency with programming in an enterprise-scale language (Python, Scala, Java, C#, etc.)
- Good understanding of with Jenkins pipelines
- Should have tested customer experience and UI for SaaS and various cloud deployment models, including App & API integrations
- Knowledge of databases, data warehousing and BI tools
- Self starter, motivated, independent and ambitious
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
Bonus points if you have
- Experience working with analytics software
- Knowledge of REST API testing using pytest/python
- Knowledge of AWS/Azure/K8s fundamentals and certification
