What does a Translator/MTPE do at Hogarth?
The Translator/MTPE is responsible for translating and post-editing our technology client’s marketing communications, working closely with editors, and creative directors, and maintaining the highest possible translation and editing standards. The ideal candidate for this hybrid role should be tech-savvy, with a keen eye and exceptional attention to detail to ensure clarity and accuracy in all copy projects. They should be flexible, adaptable, and results-driven, with the ability to work with stakeholders, internal and external partners, and project managers. The ideal candidate should also be able to handle and prioritize translation assignments in a fast-paced, ever-changing work environment. You will be required to build strong working relationships with the in-market and global teams to ensure delivery of linguistically and tonally perfect campaigns that will ensure the client’s products stand out in your market.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate, proofread and post-edit copy for the client’s brand and products, as required
- As MTPE, you will review, edit and refine the output produced by MT systems, ensuring that the translation is devoid of technical errors and focusing on meaning accuracy, correctness, fluency and style.
- Work closely with in-country team on a high volume of projects and deliver on time and to an excellent standard, often with short deadlines
- Collaborate with all members of the translation, editing and writing team to improve the quality of the copy
- Leverage glossaries and style guides to ensure alignment with the brand’s tone of voice, ensuring clarity and accuracy of translations, and maintaining the highest possible standards
- Help maintain the client’s brand tone of voice across all communications
- Work with a wide range of translation software and AI-driven tools
- Work with validation teams to always take translation quality to the next level 2
Requirements
- A degree in linguistics, translation, language studies or an equivalent degree • Native speaker of the target language and fluent in English
- A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in translating and editing marketing and technical materials
- Ideal candidates should have a previous localization experience at an advertising agency, localization, or transcreation agency
- Full command of the language and grammar
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of the English language
- Experience in working for global technology brands and products
- Experience in using computer-aided translation tools (CAT tools such as Trados and ML-based translation engines, deep understanding of MTPE processes
- Experience in the development and maintenance of style guides and glossaries
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work as a team member
- Must be flexible and able to adapt within an environment of constant change
