What does a Freelance Copyeditor do at Hogarth?
As a Copyeditor, you will be responsible for the in-country editing of localised customer- facing marketing materials which are by nature creative. This involves re-working the adaptation of long copy originally written in US-English, for the markets in India that utilise UK-English. To be successful in the role, you will need to be a sharp, eagle-eyed and detail-oriented editor with a passion for and strong understanding of linguistics
Reporting lines and key stakeholders:

Immerse yourself in the detail by reviewing, editing and adapting all US-English long copy for the UK- English markets in India.

Partner with editing teams across the organisation to ensure alignment with the brand’s tone of voice, ensuring clarity and accuracy of translations.

Ensure that the materials follow the spirit of the US-English master copy and communicate the same strategic or product point.

Leveraging on glossaries and style guides, develop and maintain a consistent tone of voice, personality and cultural relevance for the relevant markets.

Manage your workload and flag any downtime to your Team Lead.

Ensure deadlines are achieved on-time in accordance to production schedule and deliverables are produced to the highest quality.
Requirements

Extensive experience in subediting and/or copyediting for news publications and/or marketing communication materials, ideally with a background in advertising.

Fluent oral and written UK-English.

Meticulous and detail-oriented.

The ideal candidate is self-motivated and process-driven but able to deal with rapid change in a fast- paced, deadline-driven environment.
