We are seeking a talented Fraud Intelligence Analyst. This position supports successful execution of fraud strategy programs leading to achievement of Velera's goals for delivering fraud solutions to member-owners. The Fraud Intelligence Analyst will support all anti-fraud activities and provide actionable intelligence to address critical fraud issues impacting credit unions. This position will apply analytical tradecraft to data interpretation, summarization, analysis, and reporting to further the Fraud Analytics mission.
The Opportunity:

Incumbent will support all anti-fraud activities and provide actionable intelligence to address critical fraud issues impacting credit unions. Incumbent will apply analytical tradecraft to data interpretation, summarization, analysis and reporting to further the Fraud Analytics mission.
Day in the Life:
- Utilize programing for fraud detection and intelligence activities across various tools and data elements which analyze and identify fraudulent activities and transactions across various channels and ensure proper mitigation efforts are taken on any significant intelligence leads related to those findings.
- Conduct research and analysis on worldwide fraud threats against Velera and its clients.
- Analyze available datasets to identify trends and patterns, detect anomalies, and map financial and criminal networks through multiple tools such as search engines, proprietary methods, and tools to manipulate large data sets.
- Transform data into actionable information for decision-makers.
- Conduct application cross channel analysis to detect and alert on multithread attacks.
- Support fraud analytics data standards and offer recommendations for current and future needs.
- Develop and deliver high quality actionable intelligence products based on all source data.
- Monitoring behavioral patterns of fraudsters while working within third party vendor and internal systems to write strategies and rules within the payment space to prevent further loss.
- Partner with key organizational stakeholders and departments to understand their key business and marketing challenges, assess and prioritize opportunities, and work efforts and business impact.
- Demonstrate understanding of impact of Analytics solutions and data on Velera’s business operations, and develop plans accordingly.
- Provide advice and counsel to Velera Product Team, Enterprise Risk, Fraud Risk and Information Technology regarding additional fraud analytics and reporting opportunities.
- Facilitate communication between staff, management, vendors, and other technology resources within the organization.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Experience:
- Four (4) years experience or relevant combination of education and experience or familiarity using data and analytics to mitigate fraud and crime risks required.
- Working Lucene, Python, and Elasticsearch/Kibana knowledge preferred.
- Experience working with Information Technology/Information Security personnel and understanding how software/hardware solutions can be applied to mitigate fraud preferred.
- Experience using and implementing new technical tools for analytical program improvements and information management preferred.
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity, or related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

- Aptitude for rule writing, strategy creation and trend analysis utilizing cutting edge technology
- Ability to participate in the development of high value strategic plans, understanding prioritization trade-offs, and ability to garner maximum return on investment from Velera’s enterprise analytics offerings
- Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats and give presentations utilizing various audiovisual support aids; ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to manage multiple projects, work in fast-paced environment, and meet deadlines; ability to take ownership of issues in assigned area, and drive timely resolution
- Ability to respond quickly and adapt to changes in priorities driven by a dynamic market; ability to proactively identify opportunities to improve the computing environment
- Demonstrated self-starter with proven ability to execute work with minimal supervision
- Ability to exercise discretion and good judgment in making decisions
- Minimal travel may be required
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of materials handled
- Ability to be flexible and work under high pressure in a complex environment
For California, Colorado and New York Applicants: In accordance with the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the expected salary range for this position is between:
$60,500.00 - $77,100.00
Actual Pay will be adjusted based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
