Our $20,000 scholarship is designed to support students pursuing undergraduate degrees in fields related to the reinsurance industry, such as Actuarial Science, Risk Management, Finance, Economics, Accounting, Law, Computer Science, Mathematics or Business. This scholarship also offers the potential opportunity to join Fortitude Re’s prestigious summer internship program, providing hands-on experience in a dynamic and forward-thinking environment. Benefits:  

• $20,000 annually for up to four years, to be used for tuition, living expenses, travel, books, and other study materials

Application Criteria:  

• 3.0 GPA or above, or equivalent 
• Pursuing an undergraduate degree at an accredited institution
• Bermudian, PRC or eligible for PRC
• Preferred field of study: Actuarial Science, Risk Management, Finance, Economics, Accounting, Law, Computer Science, Mathematics, Business. Other fields will be considered. 
• Acceptance or continued enrollment in an accredited college or university outside Bermuda  

Required Documents:  

1. Proof of five years of schooling in Bermuda 
2. Proof of Bermudian, PRC or PRC eligibility
3. Proof of acceptance, conditional acceptance or continued enrollment in an accredited college or university outside of Bermuda. If not available at time of application, a document should be attached stating when it will be available and then be provided by email to [email protected]
4. Official transcripts (most recent)
5. Essay 1200-1500 words
6. Multi-media presentation (short listed candidates only) 
   

Conditions of the Scholarship:  

• Submission of official transcripts at the end of each semester 
• A 3.0 GPA or equivalent must be maintained
• Periodic contact with Fortitude Re  
• Notify Fortitude Re of academic program changes

Note: Failure to comply with ongoing requirements may lead to forfeiture of the scholarship. 

Essay Details: 

Please attach an application essay that includes the details of your experiences and explains why you feel that you are the most suitable candidate for this scholarship. Please keep the essay to a maximum of 1500 words, and cover all the following: 

• Name of the institution at which you are currently enrolled, or from which you are awaiting acceptance, and your program of study
• Volunteer/Community work  
• Extracurricular Activities  
• Leadership Experiences  
• Overall Career Aspirations
