The Food Stylist provides food styling services for photography and video projects for Dotdash Meredith brands. This position is responsible for providing all the food items needed for photo and/or video shoots, preparing the recipes, and styling the content within the specific parameters outlined by art and editorial teams.

 

In addition to providing food styling services to clients this position may also be asked to develop editorial content and test recipes as needed.

 

The food stylist needs to be able to take direction from clients and photographers while also providing direction to their assistant and other support staff to ensure they are producing high quality content at a pace that keeps projects on or ahead of their deadlines.

II. Essential Job Functions

Weight %: Accountabilities, Actions and Expected Measurable Results

  • 85%: Cook and style recipes for photo and video shoots within the parameters specified by art and edit teams from Dotdash-Meredith brands.

  • 10%: Prepare market orders/provide all food items needed for shoots from content provided by clients

  • 2.5%: Maintain accurate financial records. Submit expense reports as required. Report time in Farmerswife to assist in capturing important business metrics

  • 2.5%: Develop and/or test recipe content as needed.

III. Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered.

Education:

  • Associates, BS, or BA culinary degree or significant experience operating a professional kitchen.

 

Experience:

  • Experience as a food stylist or an assistant food stylist is preferred.

  • Significant food experience in a professional capacity will be considered in lieu of styling experience.

 

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Extensive knowledge of food and cooking. 

  • The ability to trouble-shoot recipes that aren’t working.

  • Very strong communication skills- the ability to take direction and communicate directions to others.

  • Able to work under pressure and manage a variety of tasks at once.

  • Proficient computer skills (Google -- Gmail, Calendar, Sheets, Docs).

  • The ability to work independently on assigned projects.

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

  • Ability to maintain accurate financial records and file expense reports

 

% Travel Required (Approximate): Occasional shopping or location shooting possible, less than 5%
