This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.

In this role you will be responsible for helping to design, develop, manufacture and test fluid systems for the New Glenn rocket! You will engage in all levels of the design cycle including conceptual design, requirements definition, thermo-fluid modeling, structural analysis, integration, test and mission support. You will use creative thinking and novel manufacturing solutions to solve complex problems with high pressure, cryogenic, and highly stressed hardware.

Responsibilities:

  • Design fluid component hardware to meet cost, manufacturability and performance constraints.
  • Design and route complex fluid subsystems (i.e., pressurization, pneumatics, propellant utilization, cryo lines)
  • Create and own the development, acceptance and qualification test activities for your hardware.
  • Work with fluid components (i.e., solenoid valves, pneumatic valves, regulators, pressure vessels, bellows and ducts)
  • Work closely with other groups to ensure your systems work together, resolving issues at an accelerated pace while managing risk
  • Good project management skills are vital, including supplier management, scheduling, and production interfacing.
  • Work with 3D CAD programs (Creo preferred) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) programs (ANSYS Preferred)
  • Deliver completed designs using best draft practicing per ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards along with clear and well documented analysis reports

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or equivalent
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion 
  • Demonstrated hands on work (hobbies, school projects, competitions etc)
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a rapid and scrappy hardware development environment
  • Experience with cryogenic systems
  • Experience in designing for low cost and rate manufacturing
  • Experience diagnosing and fixing mechanical hardware
  • Demonstrated passion in working on vehicles of any type – if it moves and you love working on it, you’re perfect!


 

Compensation Range for:

WA applicants is $78,943.00-$110,519.85
