Job Description
BAE Systems is seeking an exceptional Program Manager with extensive Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) weapon system and/or Reentry Vehicle/Reentry System (RS/RV) experience for an exciting opportunity to support multiple DoD ACAT I and DOE programs.
This position will directly support the ISC Flight Systems Division Lead and the government's Payloads Deputy/Lead Project Officer as they manage multiple RS/RV ACAT I programs and other Payload capabilities for the next generation ICBM. Duties will include leading a team of project/program managers and engineers who are providing expert advice and support to Sentinel Division leaders on all aspects of the acquisition cycles (DoD and DOE). Areas of responsibility that fall under Payloads include: division level Risk integration and management, external stakeholder collaboration, OSS&E planning, facilitation of workload planning (Objectives and Key Results) across the division and up to the directorate, monitoring progress and integration of multiple ACAT I programs, contract budget management, and subcontractor performance management.
To successfully field the new weapon systems, Sentinel requires a highly-experienced Program Manager with a willingness to lead, learn, and contribute in a fast-paced and very complex environment. The applicant must possess high energy and a strong motivation to make a difference. They must be comfortable working with changing priorities and ambiguous situations. The ability to switch tasks and multi-task with minimal disruption is a must.
Specifically, this BAE Systems team member will serve as a senior level program manager advising and assisting in leading multiple teams and managing the day-to-day operations of the Payloads area including status tracking of multiple programs, leading and supporting senior level meetings, development and management of workload plans, and contract budget management. The position interacts with senior staff and senior leaders in the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Headquarter Air Force, Air Force Global Strike Command, National Nuclear Security Administration and DOE laboratories, the National Security Agency, and U.S. Strategic Command. This team member will also coordinate and integrate actions with senior program managers in other divisions, senior engineers, logisticians, testers, and the Minuteman III Directorate.
This is a very rare opportunity to join a high-performing and growing team within a large defense company with an extraordinary, positive culture and mission focus. In this position, you will provide direct support to a national security critical weapon systems throughout all phases of acquisition, deployment and sustainment. You will become a trusted mission partner to the innovative, digital engineering-driven Air Force organization that will design, build, test, produce, transition, and sustain the world's safest, most secure, and effective land-based nuclear deterrent and development of cutting-edge payloads.
Why Sentinel? The Sentinel Program is an enormous and complex "Mega-Project" modernizing the entire ICBM weapon system deployed across tens of thousands of square miles in five states. Without any doubt, Sentinel is one of the Department of Defense's (DoD's) most important acquisition efforts for the next decade, if not longer. It includes a complete refurbishment of hundreds of aging Minuteman III ICBM facilities to secure and support a newly designed, technologically advanced ballistic missile. It will also provide an entirely new command and control system as well as vast array of required support equipment specifically engineered to operate and sustain the new weapon system over the decades ahead. Sentinel is a DoD "program of record," having recently achieved Acquisitions Milestone B. It enjoys broad, strong support at the national level. It is a long-term project -- the weapon system will deploy over a nine-year period beginning in approximately 2026, and remain operational until at least 2075. If that wasn't enough the Payloads Division is also managing three other major programs, integration of the current RV, and preparing to add another new RV program to the portfolio. Sentinel Payloads is a career-defining portfolio of programs that present unique and challenging opportunities that simply are not seen anywhere else.
Pursuant to Government contract, this position requires US Citizenship status.
This position is only located at Hill Air Force Base, Utah, due to special-access, classified working environment and is not conducive to regular "telework" schedules.
