What you will be doing:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Fitter to join us at the Engine Overhaul Services facility in Derby.

The EOS facility is 35,000m2, with circa 650 employees, and operational for 20 hours a day, 365 days a year. As the only wholly owned Large Engine MRO facility, with capability to maintain all modern Trent engines, EOS is fundamental to the future success of our Civil Aerospace business.

As a Fitter, you will carry out module fitting activities on a variety of different engines. You will be able to control and improve work in terms of work progress, efficiency, cost saving, safety, adherence to company policies and instructions and conduct of team members. This will lead to many learning and progression opportunities, depending on your experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist Manufacturing Engineers in work procedures and practices and monitor work in progress and ensure that work performed is accurately completed to the RRMS standards
  • Maintain Control boards, WIP tracking, asset care and 5s processes as well as maintain, monitor and control departmental calibration lists and tooling.
  • Actively manage all input and output through the department.
  • use cross functional skills to speak to ME and other departments to ensure all technical instructs are up to date and relatable to the work you are carrying out.
  • Responsibility on the achievement of customer satisfaction, quality standards and work.
  • Organizing teamwork in servicing duties. Supervisory duties in teamwork and coaching of sub-ordinate team members.
  • Target are being delivered to the SORB and instructions that are delivered by the immediate manager.

  • Completed an advanced level engineering apprenticeship* and an NVQ/SVQ/City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent.

  • Ability to understand basic engineering reports and interpret service manual.
  • A self-starter, with a professional, flexible approach.
  • An effective communicator able to work both within a team and autonomously.
  • Capable of maintaining a clean and safe environment, acknowledging all the health and safety factors.
  • Able to work to deadlines to achieve performance and project targets.
